How long have you been a nurse?
I have been a nurse since 1980. I was a candystriper at 14, and began in Homecare as a Caregiver at 16, received my LPN while in highschool, and then studied at a Medical Center for my RN
What expertise and experience do you bring to BrightStar Care?
I have been Certified as a Palliative and HospiceCare Nurse, School Nurse and worked in Emergency Nursing, Long Term Care, Home Health and Private Duty Pediatrics. I also had my own CNA training school in South Carolina. I enjoy teaching Caregivers, Nurses, Patients and families. With my background in Dementia care and Hospice I have many opportunities to educate caregivers and families of our BrightStar clients on a regular basis.
What part of your job are you most passionate about?
I am passionate about providing exceptional, personalized care to each client we serve. It is an honor to advocate for our BrightStar clients and families. I choose to be a mentor leader to our Caregivers, to ignite that passion in them.
What are three unique strengths you bring to BrightStar Care?
1. My years of experience in home care as a caregiver and RN help me to understand the challenges that employees face, and make me a better listener to their concerns.
2. I have strong assessment skills and rely on my critical thinking skills to make decisions that are necessary to support my clients and the team.
3. My creative side causes me to think “outside the box” daily for ways to enhance the lives of our clients.I encourage our employees to do the same.
