Valary Dreyer, RN, BSN
Director of NursingHow long have you been a nurse?
I have been a Registered Nurse, BSN for 32 years. I graduated from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer University in Atlanta in 1993.
What expertise and experience do you bring to BrightStar Care?
My experience includes ER, dialysis, surgery, etc, and I have been a charge nurse and in various management and leadership positions, including responsibilities such as policy writing and Joint Commission preparation. I spent years raising my family and working from home where I became certified in the management of food allergies/anaphylaxis.
What part of your job are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about my patients! I love working in busy, challenging environments which provide opportunity for close and meaningful patient care. I believe in consistency and continuity of care, and I am certain a strong nurse/patient relationship is vital for patient comfort and optimal outcomes.
I often say, “I don’t DO Nursing; I AM a Nurse.” I believe this is true for most nurses. Our passion for our career runs through our core and every aspect of our lives.
What are three unique strengths you bring to BrightStar Care?- I bring a wealth of EXPERIENCE to BSC. I have nursing knowledge of many specialties, diagnoses and conditions, including the care of patients of all ages.
- I bring LEADERSHIP to BSC. I have been in leadership positions for most of my career. I believe successful leadership begins with knowledge, positivity, therapeutic communication, “meeting people where they are,” and a willingness to always keep learning and growing. I believe “Leaders” are ALWAYS part of a TEAM and “teamwork makes the dreamwork.” As a leader I believe respect, strong and open communication, exceptional listening skills, and the ability to receive constructive criticism are all essential for relationships with both patients and staff.
- I bring POSITIVITY and FUN!! I believe in a positive and uplifting work environment. When employees are happy and feel valued this translates not only to the workplace but directly to patient care.

Destry Jeter
President & OwnerAt BrightStar Care of Charleston, our goal is simple: to deliver a higher standard of care through a team that is supported, respected, and inspired to make a difference every day. We’re here to provide the same level of professionalism and heart I would want for my own family—so our clients can feel safe, cared for, and truly at home.
As a veteran and lifelong advocate for service, I’ve always believed leadership means putting people first. After more than two decades leading large, regulated service organizations—including pharmacy, optical, and national safety-training programs—I transitioned into home healthcare to bring that same focus on structure, accountability, and compassion to families in our community.

Administrative DirectorI oversee the day-to-day operations of our office, including billing, payroll, scheduling, customer service, and compliance audits. I hold a bachelor’s degree in education, and caring for others has always been a central part of who I am.
Over the years I’ve been an educator, a mother, a Girl Scout leader, and a volunteer supporting families in need. I’ve also provided caregiving for a neighborhood family and previously managed another home care office, experiences that gave me a deep appreciation for both the personal and operational sides of quality care.
My path into home care became deeply personal when I helped care for my aunt. I walked beside her through the confusion of the healthcare system, coordinated her services, and provided hands-on personal care. That experience opened my eyes to how overwhelming this journey can feel for families — and how much compassion and guidance truly matter.
Today, my goal is simple: to make every family feel supported, understood, and never alone in the process. Helping people find clarity, comfort, and confidence during uncertain times isn’t just my job — it’s my calling.
