What is an In-Home Care Assessment?

An In-Home Care Assessment

A care assessment is a living room visit that helps determine the care needed.

Our RN-Led Home Health Care Agency in Las Vegas provides every family a living room visit to help determine if it is time for a senior to get home care help. We help you talk with your loved one about options.

A home care assessment evaluates your loved one to help identify any care needs and potential home hazards. It's usually performed by a licensed healthcare professional, such as our Director of Nursing or medical social worker. The home care assessment will include personal care recommendations and home safety improvement recommendations to help improve the environment, such as installing handrails in the bathroom or ensuring your house has adequate lighting and medication management.

An elderly home care assessment can be an important preventive measure, mainly because older people living alone are prone to falls and serious injury. According to the National Council on Aging, one in four Americans age 65 and older falls every year, and falls are the number one cause of injury-related death for older adults.
