Our BrightStar Care Director of Community Outreach, Heidi, attended the Stewartstown Senior Center Health Fair and was thrilled by the great turnout! Thank you to the Stewartstown Senior Center for hosting, and to everyone who stopped by our table.
Events like this are one of our favorite parts of serving York County. They give us the chance to meet neighbors face to face, answer questions and share resources that help older adults stay safe, healthy and independent at home.
Questions families asked us
Many of the conversations Heidi had at the fair started the same way: "Mom (or Dad) is doing okay, but we're starting to worry." If that sounds familiar, you're not alone. Families often want to know:
- When is it time to think about in-home care? Common signs include missed medications, trouble with bathing or meals, a recent fall or hospital stay, or a family caregiver who is stretched too thin.
- What kind of help is available at home? In-home care can range from a few hours of companionship and help around the house to more hands-on personal care.
- How do we get started? A simple phone call is the first step. We'll listen to what's going on and talk through options that fit your loved one's needs.
