Community Involvement at BrightStar Care Lubbock

Lubbock Challenger Little League

The Lubbock Challenger Little League creates an environment for children of all abilities to play baseball. As a title sponsor, BrightStar Care Lubbock hosts Challenger Opening Day each season at the Challenger field located in Southwest Lubbock.
Opening day has become the highlight of the year for many participants and BrightStar employees. Over 50 companies will set-up games and activities for attendees to do prior to the first pitch of the season.
BrightStar volunteers manage checking in players, creating fun experiences at the BrightStar booth and being the ‘go-to’ individuals for the event.

Ronald McDonald House Charities

The Ronald McDonald House holds a special place in the BrightStar Family. When owners, Lonny & Heather Kane, needed medical support for their child, The Ronald McDonald House opened their doors to the Kane family. From Chicago, Ft. Worth, Houston and Dallas the Ronald McDonald House has provided a place to sleep and eat so that the Kane’s can focus on what truly matters, being there for their son.

“We understand the relief that the families experience by not having to worry about the cost, or even where to eat. We want to bless others in this way. “ – Heather Kane, Owner

Once a month, since 2011, BrightStar team members come together to prepare and serve a meal for current residents of the Ronald McDonald House in Lubbock, TX. For our commitment to serving, the Ronald McDonald House awarded BrightStar Care of Lubbock the 2017 volunteer of the year award for most volunteered hours.

In 2018, Lonny and Heather Kane will continue their support of the Ronald McDonald House by joining the Red Shoe Crew for the Annual Red Shoe Shindig. This is annual fundraising campaign and gala that celebrates the work of the Ronald McDonald House and the organizations and people that make it possible.

Texas Boy’s Ranch

The Texas Boy’s Ranch has housed over 1,000 foster kids in the South Plains community.  Although the Kane family has silently supported the Texas Boy’s Ranch for several years, in 2017 BrightStar Care Lubbock committed to raising funds through an annual charity golf tournament. By creating a fun day off for golfers and partnering with area businesses we have been able to support the Texas Boy’s Ranch’s efforts to improve their campus.

We have also partnered with area home health companies in a friendly competition to stock the Texas Boy’s Ranch pantry. Participants ask their teams to donate items and the company with the most donations receives a lunch catered and served by BrightStar team members. At the end of the competition, representatives join BrightStar in delivering the items to see firsthand how their efforts will support the Texas Boy’s Ranch children.
