Our St. Louis West County team is proud to be an active part of the St. Louis community and to call St. Louis home. Our office staff and caregivers are dedicated to delivering quality care and outstanding service 24 hours a day seven days a week. One of our greatest points of pride is the compassion, dedication and commitment on the part of each member of our team. All of our employees are passionate about delivering quality care. We ensure this by providing ongoing staff development training to allow our caregivers to specialize in a variety of areas including; Alzheimer and dementia, Parkinson’s, Autisms, orthopedic surgery recovery, Hospice care and much more. All of our caregivers are background checked, drug tested, insured and bonded. We are also committed to always having one of our owners or managers introduce each caregiver to our clients the first time they arrive to provide care. This is no different than we would want for our own families; personalized service from people who truly care about each other’s health and well being. From the first day we meet a new client and their families and every day thereafter we are committed to implementing a plan of care developed by our Director of Nursing that is designed to achieve the highest levels of independence and personal goals of each client. Our D.O.N. provides ongoing oversight and is always available to answer questions or provide personal assistance. Our caregivers always adhere to the highest levels of policy, procedure, care, dignity and compassion.

    Client Care Manager
My goal is to continue to strive for success and gain as much knowledge as possible. My greatest accomplishment in life is that I started as a caregiver, advanced to an infusion scheduler, and now am a Client Care Manager. I love what I do. I want to show others that it's not just a job, it's a career, and you can always move up! I love working at BrightStar, we are more than just colleagues, we are family and families always have each other’s backs. I think that’s what our entire BrightStar team wants to achieve!

  • Ken Kraus

    Managing Director/Owner
My journey has been quite a ride, shaped by diverse experiences that have fueled my passion for healthcare and helping others. It all started in journalism. I had the opportunity as a reporter as well as an anchor to communicate stories that mattered about politics, business, and healthcare.

I decided to move to the other side of the camera and microphone pursuing a career in Media Management. I became the Operations manager and Executive VP of a regional radio group based in St. Louis. From there moved into finance, serving as the President of a regional bank. Although these positions and experiences are very diverse, they all included the opportunity to make a real, tangible impact on people's lives.

My volunteer work with healthcare organizations, particularly the American Cancer Society, has also been a strong influence on me. I was fortunate to play a part in establishing the Hope Lodge, offering families a free and safe space during the tough times of cancer treatments. It was a humbling experience, and it got me thinking about how I could do even more.

In 2010 I left banking and began providing strategic planning consulting services.  During this time I was also focusing on identifying a business that would allow me to go to work each day knowing I was making a difference in people’s lives. This led me to health care specifically Home Care. While reporting I often covered the difficulties of navigating the healthcare system and of maintaining independence when aging. As a banker, I met with families struggling with the financial burdens of honoring their loved ones wishes to age with dignity in their homes. However, more impactful to me was the emotional toll placed on families as they cared for their loved ones in times of Illness.

This is what led me to own and operate BrightStar of St. Louis and St. Charles. Here we have the opportunity to truly support families along their healthcare journey. We provide them with the opportunity to keep their loved ones at home, knowing they are safe, receiving quality care, and maintaining the highest level of independence possible. This allows families to concentrate on being families. We are proud to make quality of life possible no matter what stage of life’s journey one may be experiencing.

Each day, I get to work with an amazing, dynamic, and fun team. We're not just colleagues; we're a passionate group dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of our clients. It's not about titles or positions—it's about creating a warm, supportive environment where everyone cares about each other and our clients.

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be part of this journey, surrounded by a team that shares my enthusiasm for making a real difference. It's not just a job; it's a calling, and I'm grateful to be on this path with such a fantastic group of people.
  • Skye Harris

    Director of Social Media

My life's purpose is to leave this world slightly better than I found it. I strive to be a dependable coworker, friend, aunt, sister, daughter, and wife who uplifts others. My goal is to make each person I encounter feel valued.

One accomplishment I cherish is creating a mobile intake unit for a disability law firm in a rural area. This allowed clients to avoid the burden of extra appointments. Thirteen years later, the mobile unit is still used weekly.

I work in home healthcare because my family has desperately needed these services. Families must have full confidence in the care company they choose.  I take real pride in ensuring that other families have a great experience.

I love being part of the BrightStar Care family. Working with a team united by the goal of excellent home care is refreshing.

  • Andrea Lisman

Director of Nursing for BrightStar Care of St. Louis
In everything I do, I want to show my work ethic and compassion. Nursing isn't a job, it's a calling. My career goals were always put on hold as a military wife. My journey to become a nurse took a long time, but it was worth it. I've been able to work full-time, maintain a 4.0 GPA, and raise a family. Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, they will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel." Making people feel loved and cared for is my goal.  I love being part of the BrightStar Care team because it's like my second home not just because I work here. We are a work family.  I feel like everyone is on the same page and I'm blessed to have such wonderful people to work with. It's refreshing to come to work each day knowing that everyone is there for each other, both professionally and personally. I'm thankful to be part of this work family.
