At BrightStar Care of The Monterey Peninsula, we are deeply committed to supporting the brave men and women who have served our country. As a local provider of home care services, we understand the sacrifices made by our Veterans and Military Servicemembers, and we are proud to be part of a community that honors their service. With the recent expansion of the PACT Act and the long-standing military presence in our region, we reaffirm our dedication to ensuring that all eligible Veterans in Monterey County receive the highest standard of care and support that they deserve.
A Rich Military History in Our Community
The Monterey Peninsula has long been a hub for military service and training, with a legacy that stretches back through centuries of American history. From the historic Old Fort Ord to the current installations that continue to shape our national defense, the region has played a vital role in preparing and supporting those who serve.
Old Fort Ord, established in 1917, has a storied history, serving as a training base for soldiers during both World Wars and continuing its role as a key military installation until its closure in 1994. Today, the land is being repurposed, but the legacy of those who served here lives on, as many Veterans still call the Monterey Peninsula home.
The Presidio of Monterey is another integral part of the region’s military fabric. As the home of the Defense Language Institute or DLI, the Presidio has been a center for military language training for decades. Serving as an essential component of U.S. Military readiness, it trains Servicemembers in critical languages to support national defense and diplomacy efforts worldwide.
Additionally, the Naval Postgraduate School at the Naval Support Activity Monterey continues to play a key role in developing cutting-edge technologies and providing higher education to Military personnel. These institutions are vital to ensuring that the U.S. Military remains prepared and adaptive in an ever-changing global landscape.
The PACT Act and Expanded Benefits
The most recent expansion of the PACT Act marks a significant milestone in the effort to improve care and benefits for our nation’s Veterans, particularly those who served in areas with toxic exposures. This historic legislation expands eligibility for Veterans who were exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other harmful substances during their service, making it easier for them to access the care they need.
At BrightStar Care of The Monterey Peninsula, we are fully committed to assisting Veterans in navigating these expanded benefits. Our team of compassionate caregivers is trained to provide personalized, high-quality care to Veterans, whether they are recovering from injuries, managing chronic conditions, or simply in need of companionship and support. We understand that veterans have unique healthcare needs, and our services are tailored to meet those needs with the utmost respect and dedication.
