Thomas A. Graves, MBA, FACHE
President and CEO
Flat Creek Investments, LLC, DBA BrightStar Care of Anne Arundel County, Easton and Salisbury
As the owner and CEO of Flat Creek Investments, LLC, doing business as (DBA) BrightStar Care, Thomas comes to this organization as a board-certified health care executive and a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives, with 33 years of experience in health care administration. He earned a BBA in Finance from Texas A&M University and an MBA in finance from the University of St. Thomas.
During his career, Thomas has held numerous leadership positions in nationally recognized cancer institutes, such as the Geisinger Health System Cancer Program in Pennsylvania, Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and the University of Texas San Antonio Cancer Center. Most recently, he worked for Inova Health System, in Fairfax, Virginia, where he served as the Vice President of Cancer Services and opened the new Schar Cancer Institute in May 2019. In that position, Thomas was responsible for the development of comprehensive, patient-centered clinical care for cancer patients, research programs, and clinical trials.
Thomas joined the BrightStar team in June 2020 and is excited to continue the exceptional work of the previous owner, Bob Brueckman, who, with the team, provided care to more than 4000 families during his nearly 12 years of service to the organization. Thomas' goal is to expand upon our already-exceptional team of administrative staff, caregivers, nurses and therapists, and the services offered by BrightStar.
Lorelei Palemine, RN, BSN
Regional Clinical Director
Lorelei was born and raised in the Philippines, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1994. She was inspired to become a nurse when her mother, at a very young age, was diagnosed and passed away from breast cancer.
Prior to coming to BrightStar Care®, Lorelei worked as the Assistant Director of Nursing at Heritage Harbor, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center in Anne Arundel County, for many years. Early in her career, she discovered her calling with the geriatric population. As BrightStar's Regional Clinical Director, she oversees all client cases and is responsible for staff training and the quality of care BrightStar is known for. She is completely dedicated to her clients and their families. “Working in this field is a true honor and one that I appreciate daily. At BrightStar I am able to spend more time getting to know our clients and families, which allows me to really make a difference in their lives," she says.
Laura Jones, RN, BSN
Regional Director of Skilled Services
Laura Jones moved to Talbot County from Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1988. She became interested in home care after having the opportunity to care for a family member suffering from a terminal illness. In 2002, Laura found her calling and embarked on a career of providing care to individuals in her community.
To further enhance her skills, Laura attended the McQueen Gibbs School of Nursing, where she graduated in 2009 with an Associates Degree in Nursing, and shortly thereafter became a licensed registered nurse. She has experience in skilled nursing and rehabilitation, long term care, assisted living, case management and community hospice nursing. While working full time and raising a family, Laura worked towards earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Stevenson University, which she completed in 2013.
She joined BrightStar of Easton in December, 2013, a position that enabled her to return to her true calling – to provide members of her local community with highly skilled and compassionate home care. Regional Director of Marketing and Community Outreach
A 2001 graduate of Washington College in Chestertown, Christina Wingate-Spence began her career with Upper Shore Aging, Inc., the Area Agency on Aging for Caroline, Kent and Talbot Counties, where managed three programs assisting area senior citizens. The past 14 years of her career has been spent in health care sales, strategy, marketing and communications, having worked for Genesis HealthCare and HeartFields Assisted Living at Easton, a Five Star Senior Living community. Most recently, Christina was a team member of University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, where she started in January 2013 as a Communications and Marketing specialist and then assumed the role of manager of Marketing and Communications, in August 2016.
Over the past several years, Christina has been active in several community organizations and currently serves as immediate past president/vice president for the Board of Directors of Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence.
In her role as regional director of marketing and community outreach, Christina oversees BrightStar’s community outreach and educational initiatives on the Eastern Shore and Anne Arundel County.
Regional Director of Finance
Suzanne, a certified public accountant, graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting. Prior to joining BrightStar in 2009, she worked for Coopers & Lybrand and the Visiting Nurses Association in Connecticut.
Suzanne is the Regional Director of Finance for the Anne Arundel County and both Eastern Shore offices. In this role, she generates weekly invoices, submits claims to insurance and worker’s compensation companies and manages the payroll process for BrightStar team members.
“I have a true appreciation for homecare, as I have personally experienced its benefits and have seen how it impacts clients and their families,” she says.
Brittany has worked in a variety of administrative capacities in multiple industries including health care and real estate. A graduate of Southern Senior High School, Brittany also has experience as a licensed realtor and is strong in database management and various operational functions.
In her position at BrightStar, Brittany works closely with the branch manager and client care coordinator to meet client and caregiver needs. She also assists BrightStar’s Regional Director of Finance with the employee onboarding and payroll processes.
Client Care Coordinator
Maryjane grew up in Alabama until moving to Maryland at the age 10. Throughout the course of her career, Maryjane has worked to help others.
Prior to joining BrightStar Care, she spent five years working for a homeless shelter, where she helped others get their lives back in order. Maryjane has tremendous experience as a caregiver, having assisted several family members. That work inspired her to go back to school and earn her certification in Gerontology and she later worked for an assisted living as a weekend manager.
In her role as client care coordinator, Maryjane works with the clients and our caregivers to meet staffing needs.
Sharon was born and raised in Anne Arundel County and has also lived on Maryland's Eastern Shore. She has worked in business development in the healthcare industry for more than 20 years, having experience in assisted living facilities, hospice and private duty home care.
During her 8 years at BrightStar Care®, Sharon has been instrumental in developing, creating and delivering solutions for our clients. “My position allows me to be one of the first people our clients meet from BrightStar. My job is to make them feel at ease so we can gather the information we need to develop the right home care solution for their needs,” she says.
