March is National Nutrition Month, a campaign created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The theme for this year is "Put Your Best Fork Forward," which encourages everyone to follow a healthful eating plan that's packed with tasty foods and that keeps your unique lifestyle in mind. Here are some helpful resources in honor of National Nutrition Month. Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. The Academy has over 75,000 members — registered dietitian nutritionists, dietetic technicians, registered, and other dietetics professionals. Nutrition.gov Nutrition.gov provides easy access to vetted food and nutrition information from across the federal government. ChooseMyPlate ChooseMyPlate.gov is managed and administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). ChooseMyPlate.gov offers useful resources and tools to promote healthier eating choices. USDA and Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), is an agency of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). FNS works to end hunger and obesity through the administration of 15 federal nutrition assistance programs including WIC, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and school meals. Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) The Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) is a leader in on-line global nutrition information. Located at the National Agricultural Library of USDA, the FNIC Web site contains over 2500 links to current and reliable nutrition information. Foodsafety.gov FoodSafety.gov is the gateway to food safety information provided by government agencies. Recipes for Healthy Living by the American Diabetes Association® The American Diabetes Association's Recipes for Healthy Living website is your link to healthy recipes and meal planning ideas.
