Susan M. Beggs: President and Owner
Susan received her bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 1996. As a young woman Susan saw firsthand how hard it was for her grandparents to find compassionate and reliable care. Seeing a need, she decided to fill it. Susan started BrightStar with one employee, a handful of clients, and an overwhelming desire to provide quality healthcare. More than 10 years later BrightStar provides over 4,500 man/woman hours of care per week and employs over 250 people. However, Susan remains passionate about the clients she serves and the employees who care for them. Susan is married with three sons who fill her heart with joy daily.
Doug Hammond: Director of Operations
Doug has worked in the Healthcare Industry for over 14 years and holds a Masters of Business degree, along with a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration from Ohio University. He began his career serving as an Assistant Administrator with First Community Village in 2001 and continued to work as a Nursing Home Administrator until joining BrightStar in 2011. As the Director of Operations, Doug takes great pride in the growth and success BrightStar has achieved by providing high quality care to our clients. He enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah and two sons, Eli and Dexter.
Crystal Kleindorfer: Director of Business Development
Crystal graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from Franklin University. She has over six years of experience working in Human Resources and is an active member with The Society for Human Resource Management. She is dedicated to the success of all Brightstar employees and has become an important asset to the company since she started working for Brightstar in September of 2015. Crystal enjoys spending time with her daughter Abbi and her husband Jason, as well as fostering animals in need.
Jennier Weimer, RN: Director of Nursing
Jen has been with Brightstar Care over a year now as the DON. Jen graduated from Mount Carmel College of Nursing with her BSN. For almost 20 years in the healthcare field she has worked in many areas; labor/delivery, med-surge, public health and school nursing, as well as long term care, home health and hospice. Jen is married to Scott and has two children Mason and Morgan. They enjoy lots of baseball and softball and are very involved in their community where they reside in London.
Mike Weeks: Human Resource Director
Mike Weeks is the human resources director at Brightstar Care, where he works with our recruiter to onboard new hires, oversees payroll, ensures policy compliance and assists with best practices development and implementation.
Mike has been working in the health industry for over 20 years and has even been a licensed nursing home administrator before returning to his human resources roots.
Mike is a bass guitar player and new motorcycle rider from Lancaster Ohio, with a very dry sense of humor who likes to work hard and play hard!
Joan Thompson: Major Account Management Coordinator
Joan has been in healthcare for 10 years with her focus being in nursing homes and healthcare transportation. Joan is dedicated to her clients and their patients as well as the success of BrightStar. She is married with 4 children and she enjoys camping and sporting events.
Stacie McDaniel: Account Management Coordinator
Stacie began her medical career 20years ago as a medical assistant. She settled into the long term and skilled care field about 7 years ago and has played many roles including Activity Director and Staffing Coordinator. While working in a facility, she realized that there was a real need for qualified, reliable, and honest staff to care for our elderly. She decided to except a recruiting position with Brightstar Care to make a difference. She has now stepped into the role as a staffing coordinator to ensure quality staffing. When she is not working, she likes to spend time with family and close friends, tubing, boating, and traveling.
Patti Kennedy: Account Management Coordinator
Patti has been in Homecare and Medical Staffing for over 20yrs and is dedicated to patient/customer service. Patti came to homecare after having nursing in her home for her young son. She now works in the Medical Staffing Division providing consistent, reliable staff to her clients. She is married with 3 children and 8 grandchildren and enjoys spending time with her family.
Aubrie Millward, LPN: Client Care Coordinator
Aubrie graduated Valedictorian from WCSCC. Prior to joining Brightstar, she started her career working at Brenn-Field Nursing Center. Joining Brightstar in 2015, Aubrie worked as an LPN with our home care clients before she was promoted to Client Care Coordinator and then most recently, LPN Supervisor, where her responsibilities include client intake, authorizations/pre-certs and Quality Assurance. Aubrie is dedicated to patient care and needs and enjoys spending time with husband and two girls.
Renee Hall: Client Care Coordinator
Renee has been in the healthcare field for 33 years. Her experience has been in both nursing homes and home care. Renee has a passion for her job because it gives her the opportunity to help people stay in their homes. Renee takes what she does very seriously. She’s felt an obligation to her clients and their families. When she is not at work, Renee stays busy working at her church. She also enjoys family time with her 3 children and 3 grandchildren.
Dana Davis: Client Care Coordinator
Dana was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and currently resides in London. Dana has been in Home Health care for 10 years. Dana is very dedicated to her client’s and home health aides, and loves being a Client Care Coordinator with Brightstar. When not working Dana spends time with her family and two boys.
Jackie Moritz: Administrative Assistant
My name is Jackie and I have been with BrightStar Care for 1 ½ years. I was born in Circleville and have lived in the central Ohio most of my life. My parents are deaf, and I am fluent in American Sign Language. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Don for 25 years this December. Our sons, Adam and Donovan graduated from Ohio University and our daughter; Lauren is currently a junior there. We enjoy going to Blue Jackets and Cincinnati Reds games and have been to Walt Disney World many times.
Oliva Smith: Accounting Administrator
Olivia, originally from Cincinnati, moved to Columbus to grow her accounting career with BrightStar Care in 2018. She has worked in the accounting field for the past 5 years and is currently in school obtaining her degree. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her puppy exploring different parks around the city
Ashley Miracle: Recruiter
Ashley has been in the recruiting job field for about four years. Coming from the developmental disabilities world, she brings a lot of compassion and patience to her efforts when looking for new staff. Ashley is currently a student at Mount Vernon Nazarene University studying to receive her bachelor’s in business administration. Ashley is dedicated to finding qualified, hard-working and compassionate staff to provide the love and support our clients deserve. Ashley is a mom to a four-legged dog named Rocko and
enjoys horseback riding and fishing in her spare time.
Sarah Blasczyk: Payroll Speacialist
Sarah joined BrightStar in January 2019 as the Payroll Adminstrator. She has had three years in the Home Health industry focusing on payroll and human resources. Currently Sarah is persueing a double major in Accounting and IT at The Ohio State University. When she is not working, Sarah enjoys exploring Columbus and spending time with her son and three dogs.
