About Our Owners, Amy and Jesus Adaniel
Owners, Jesus Adaniel, RN, CRNI, IgCN, CCHW and Amy Adaniel, BS, RRT, CSA have more than 50 years of combined healthcare experience. They are committed to providing the highest level of care within our community.
Jesus Adaniel works as the Assistant Nurse Manager for the Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU) at the local Level 1 Trauma Hospital and as the Director of Clinical Services at BrightStar Care of Delray Beach. He has 31 years of experience in critical care, trauma and home health. He also has 13+ years’ experience as a business owner. He proudly served as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp. He is a member of the Infusion Nurses Society, Immunoglobulin Nurses Society and is currently Secretary-Elect of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), West Palm Beach Chapter.
Originally from New York, he moved to Florida in 1997. Since that time, he has worked as a Staff Nurse, Shift Manager, Relief Nursing Supervisor and Assistant Nurse Manager at a local Trauma Hospital. In addition to working as a full-time employee, he bought and established BrightStar Care of Delray Beach with his wife. He is instrumental in obtaining and maintaining licensure from ACHA and accreditation from The Joint Commission. He is board certified as a Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI®) and Immunoglobulin Certified Nurse (IgCN®).
He is passionate about people and being an advocate. Jesus loves hearing stories about individuals and really getting to know them, past and present, so the best care can be provided. He is enthusiastic when it comes to teaching; be it to patients, family, and staff. Jesus realizes that everyone has a different style of learning and he loves to find creative, out of the box ways to enable understanding. Sometimes the scary and unexpected can happen. When a person is receiving individualized care, they tend to feel more comfortable, which can facilitate healing or give to a person more control and dignity in a situation they did not have control over.
Finally, Jesus feels that there is great volatility in how health care is provided to our citizens in this country, and this is going to continue. The one thing he is certain of is that people will continue to need high quality care and would like to be part of that solution.
Amy Adaniel may have been born and raised in Staten Island, New York, but she is no stranger to the South Florida community. As graduate of Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Science in Cardiorespiratory Sciences, Amy brought her medical propensity and professionalism down to South Florida and has been serving the communities of Broward and Palm Beach Counties since 1997.
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, Amy worked at [now] Boca Regional Hospital before deciding to leave practice to pursue ownership of a Delray Beach Home Care Agency franchise, BrightStar Care, with her husband, Jesus, of 28 years. Since purchasing and operating BrightStar Care of Delray Beach since February 2008, Amy has gone above the call of duty to serve her clients in the best ways she can; becoming a Certified Senior Advisor and taking an involved role in the Alzheimer’s Association Southeast Chapter are two of the most prominent examples.
As the 2015 and 2016 Chair of the West Palm Beach Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Amy was a crucial component in the West Palm Beach Walk to End Alzheimer’s ability to become some of the most successful events in their time. Since the end of her Chair role, Amy has maintained a presence in the Committee as the Mission Chair, in addition to becoming an active Alzheimer’s Advocate on both the State, and Federal levels. She is also an Alzheimer's Educator and a Alzheimer's Support Group Facilitator. Amy serves as a Board Member of the American Parkinson's Disease (APDA), Southeast Florida Chaper. She helps runs local support groups and participates in fundraising events to raise dollars; which goes directly to community programming, to help improve the qualify of life of people living with, and caring for those with Parkinson's Disease.
In addition to her professional and married life, Amy resides in Lake Worth, Florida and is mother to Shayna, 26, and Matthew, 25. Shayna is a social worker who is following in her mother’s footsteps by working in the Senior healthcare sector; joined our BrightStar Care Delray Beach team as the Director of Client Services. She is currently back in school studying to be a Nurse and expects to get her BSN in 2023. Amy most enjoys Cooper, their 6-year-old Morkie and is Mimi to her Grand "dogs" Stella, Luna and "Bumpy", a 19 year old poodle-mix, who lost her elderly human-mom, last year. Amy is lucky enough to have her whole extended family also living in South Florida. She loves traveling and enjoys weekends at Disney World.
Meet our Director of Client Services, Shayna Adaniel, BSW
Healthcare has always been in Shayna’s blood, but she has found herself serving Palm Beach County’s population in an unexpected capacity. Daughter of Amy and Jesus Adaniel, owners of BrightStar Care of Delray Beach, Shayna has grown up in the world of Health Professions. Assuming she wanted to care for others in the same ways as her parents, she chose Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida to study pre-nursing. It was in Fort Myers that Shayna discovered her love for helping others in another capacity, Social Work. After receiving her Bachelor of Social Work, Shayna moved to Tallahassee where she became a full-time intern for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Upon moving back Home to Palm Beach County, Shayna decided to pursue her love of working with Individuals and families affected by Dementia and became a Program Specialist in Specialized Memory Care Facilities. Recently, Shayna has decided to follow in her parents’ footsteps and carry on the legacy they have begun by joining their Team at BrightStar Care in Delray Beach as the new Director of Client Services.
Shayna believes that BrightStar Care of Delray Beach is truly able to provide a higher standard of care because of the passion that is involved in running it. She says, “Having seen all the hard work that my parents put into building this company, I understand first-hand the privilege it is to be able to serve the members of our community in their own homes. Our clients trust us with the things they value most, and it is our duty and responsibility to serve them with the respect and dignity they deserve." Adding, "everyone is Family to us, in our family business.”
Shayna’s favorite part of her new role is that fact that it will allow her plenty of time for Community outreach, education, and advocacy; her true passions. Her first self-appointed task on the BrightStar Team was launching BrightStar Care of Delray Beach’s new Community Education Program, where she will be going out and presenting topics relevant to the Community Resources available to Palm Beach County Seniors. In her free time, Shayna remains a dedicated volunteer of the Alzheimer’s Association as a volunteer advocate on both the State and Federal levels, as an Ambassador to her District Representative, as a Palm Beach County Early Stage Dementia and Caregiver Support Group Facilitator, and as AIM Committee Chair for the West Palm Beach Walk to End Alzheimer’s Committee. She is also a Dog-Mom to a three year old Morkie, Stella.
