2015 Caregiver of the Year

April 29, 2015
Every day, a growing number of dedicated nurses care for aging adults and people with complex medical needs inside their homes, administering daily medications, providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness, and managing personalized plans of care. To pay tribute to the specialized and tireless work of thousands of nurses throughout the network, BrightStar Care launched a national Nurse of the Year program to recognize the nurses who are working hard to deliver A Higher Standard of Home Care each and every day. This year, our Licensed Practical Nurse, Nicole Smith was nominated. Here is the nomination letter about Nicole: BrightStar Care of Fairfax is pleased to nominate one of our LPNs, Nicole Smith, for Nurse of the Year.  Nickie is one of the most empathetic, skilled, intelligent and energetic people we have ever met.  She was originally hired as a field nurse but her role quickly expanded as we began to recognize her talent and enthusiasm in caring for her clients and her commitment to our agency.   Currently, Nickie is our recruiter, skilled CCM, field nurse and ad hoc CNA.  We have yet to figure out what she isn’t good at – she is an excellent nurse, talented interviewer, awesome writer of monthly newsletters and gifted trainer.   Her nickname in the office is “Super LPN.”   Nickie’s talent is matched by her unbridled energy and her integrity.  In fact, we firmly believe her to be the personification of every BrightStar Core Value and we fervently wish we could clone her.
