BrightStar Care was a key walk sponsor and provided all the water bottles for volunteers and walkers.

Each year BrightStar Care Fairfax supports the Walk to End Alzheimer's, joining over 600 communities in the U.S. to end Alzheimer's.   We could not do it without our dedicated employee walk day volunteers.  Our BrightStar Care Employee Volunteers help with set up, advocacy efforts, cheerleading and more!  We are proud sponsors to help raise awareness for the cause on walk day.

Walks take place in 600 locations across the country from September through November, and participants carry flowers representing how their lives are touched by the devastating disease, which is the leading cause of death for one out of six people in this country.

Over 1,300 walkers attended the pre-walk rally and then walked together to end Alzheimer’s.  Each walker wore a colored shirt and held a colored flower that represented their relationship to the disease.  All the colors are symbolic. 5-Getting-Ready-to-Walk!.JPG

The American Alzheimer’s Association chose purple as their signature color, combining the calm stability of blue and the passionate energy of red.  Purple makes a statement about our Association and our supporters: we are strong and unrelenting in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.”
  • Carrying a purple flower means you lost someone to Alzheimer’s.
  • Carrying a yellow flower means you are a caregiver to someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
  • Carrying a blue flower means you are living with Alzheimer’s.
  • Carrying an orange flower means you support the Alzheimer’s Association.
  • Carrying a white flower means you are an Alzheimer’s disease survivor- to date, there have been NO white flowers
