BrightStar Care of Passaic and Bergen Countyand Fair Lawn Supports Local Hospitals Fighting Addition

Hospitals are exploring computerized tools to track patients’ histories, to flag suspect patient behavior, and to speed up response time.

Because of grants from the New Jersey Hospital Association, hospitals will test computer software designed to reduce opioid prescriptions and improve the quality and continuity of care provided by their emergency departments.

According NJ Spotlight, the software is already being used in 17 states. The computerized tracking tool generates a summary of the patient’s medical history, with warning flags for certain suspect behaviors, which enables ER doctors to identify patients who may be addicted to opioids. The system also lists the patient’s regular physician and treatment plan, which allows another provider to determine the most effective response and coordinate with others for follow-up treatment.

BrightStar Care of Passaic and Bergen Countyand Fair Lawn commends our local hospitals for investing in these kinds of improvements in patient care.  To learn more about how BrightStar supports a patient’s transitional care needs from hospital to home please visit our website.
