Housekeeping as Fall Prevention
Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among adults 65 and older — and the home environment contributes significantly to fall risk. Our caregivers are trained to identify and address common home fall hazards: loose rugs, electrical cords across walkways, cluttered pathways, inadequate lighting in nighttime routes to the bathroom, and wet bathroom floors. These observations are reported to the RN supervisor, who coordinates with the family and, when appropriate, with a home safety specialist or occupational therapist from our therapy services team.
