BrightStar Care of The Monterey Peninsula was honored to participate in Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the General Stilwell Community Center in Seaside.
This meaningful community event brought together military retirees, veterans, surviving spouses, family members, local organizations, and service providers from throughout Northern California and Nevada. It was truly special to spend the day recognizing those who have served our country while connecting military families with valuable information, resources, and support.
Building Meaningful Connections with Veterans and Their Families
One of the most rewarding parts of the event was meeting veterans and their families, listening to their experiences, and discussing the types of support that can help individuals remain safe, comfortable, and independent at home.
Many families are unsure where to begin when a loved one needs assistance following a hospitalization, experiences a change in health or mobility, or begins requiring additional support with everyday activities. Events like Military Appreciation Day provide an important opportunity for families to ask questions, learn about available resources, and connect directly with organizations that are ready to help.
Our BrightStar Care team appreciated the opportunity to explain how professional in-home care can support veterans, military retirees, surviving spouses, and their families. We were also able to discuss how care can be personalized around each individual’s health needs, preferences, routines, and goals.
A Community United in Supporting Those Who Served
Military Appreciation Day featured representatives and resources from organizations serving the military community, including Veteran Service Organizations, the Department of Veterans Affairs, TRICARE, Army Retirement Services, Survivor Outreach Services, Monterey County Military and Veterans Affairs, Army Emergency Relief, The Exchange, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, and other community partners.
Bringing these organizations together in one location made it easier for attendees to learn about benefits, retirement resources, healthcare options, survivor assistance, emergency support, and local services.
We are grateful to the event organizers and the General Stilwell Community Center for creating such a welcoming and informative event for our military community.

Personalized Support Through Every Stage of Care
Every family’s situation is different. Some individuals may only need assistance for a few hours each week, while others may benefit from more consistent care or skilled nursing support.
Our team can help families better understand their options, identify the appropriate level of care, and develop a plan centered on the client’s safety, independence, comfort, and quality of life. We can also help families navigate the next steps when services require a healthcare referral, authorization, or coordination with another organization.
Most importantly, families do not have to navigate these decisions alone.
Proud to Serve the Monterey Peninsula’s Military Community
Participating in Military Appreciation Day was a powerful reminder of the importance of honoring those who served—not only through words of appreciation, but also by making sure veterans and military families know where to turn when they need support.
We are thankful for every veteran, retiree, surviving spouse, family member, community partner, and organization that stopped by to speak with us. It was a privilege to learn more about their needs and share how BrightStar Care of The Monterey Peninsula can help individuals continue living safely and comfortably in their own homes.
We look forward to continuing to build relationships with veterans, military families, healthcare professionals, and community organizations throughout Monterey County.
