At BrightStar Care of The Monterey Peninsula, safety isn’t just a priority in June—it’s the foundation of the care we provide every day. As we recognize National Safety Month, we’re proud to join the nationwide movement to raise awareness around injury prevention and promote healthier, safer environments—especially for those most at risk.

Why National Safety Month Matters

Organized by the National Safety Council (NSC), National Safety Month is a time to spotlight the leading causes of preventable injury and death at home, at work, and in our communities. For those receiving home care, safety starts right where they live—and that’s where we come in.

BrightStar Care’s Safety Focus This June

Here are the key areas we’re emphasizing this month to protect the well-being of our clients, families, and caregivers:

1. Fall Prevention

Falls are one of the most common—and preventable—causes of injury among seniors. Our caregivers assess home environments to identify hazards, recommend adaptive equipment, and support mobility through safe practices and exercises.

Quick Tip: Clear walkways of rugs, cords, and clutter. Use proper lighting and make sure your loved one has stable footwear.

2. Medication Safety

Keeping track of medications is vital. We help clients manage medication schedules.

Quick Tip: Maintain a current list of all medications and dosages. Keep it accessible and review it regularly with your care team.

3. Emergency Preparedness

From health emergencies to natural disasters, being prepared is key. We encourage families to create emergency kits that include essentials like medications, medical records, flashlights, and water.

4. Caregiver Safety and Well-being

Our caregivers are essential to the care we provide. Their safety, health, and mental well-being are just as important. We invest in regular training, ergonomic tools, and mental health support to help them continue providing exceptional care.

Reminder: Caregivers need care, too. Take breaks, ask for help, and seek support when needed.

Guided by Standards, Driven by Compassion

We follow the highest standards of safety and care, guided by The Joint Commission. Every care plan is personalized to meet each client’s needs with a focus on dignity, safety, and quality of life.

Let’s Build a Safer Community Together

This National Safety Month, we invite families, professionals, and neighbors to take small steps that make a big difference—from organizing a medication cabinet to checking in on a loved one.
