COVID -19 Antibody Testing in Portland by BrightStar Care RNs
Our BrightStar Care of Portland Nurse, Bridget Dunham, RN, is seen here in here in personal protective equipment (PPE), working with a company called The Wellness Group. BrightStar Care staffs the COVID-19 antibody clinics and flu shot clinics for this local health care group.
Bridget is one of our BrightStar Care Nurse heroes who has been working on the front line during the pandemic. Bridget has two sisters who were quite worried about her doing the COVID-19 IgG Antibody Blood Draws at the clinic. They were so worried about her catching the virus that she took this picture of herself so they would see all of the extra precautions she takes to be safe. It helped them feel better.
COVID-19 IgG Antibody Clinics have been set-up at various companies who wanted to participate in Hosting the Clinics for their local community. These companies put out invitations to their community inviting them to schedule appointments throughout the day at the Clinic so that social distancing can be maintained.
Those who want to participate in testing have been given a paper to fill out with various questions to rule out possible actively contagious individuals. These blood draws are sent to a lab to be processed following collection to look for any Antibodies for COVID-19 in their blood. The Antibodies are what our body makes to fight infections. They are specifically looking for the ones that fight COVID-19.
According to Dunham "after talking with many people over three separate locations and dates. Most people got sick in Jan, Feb or March and they are curious if they built up Antibodies that fight this virus." She reports that "Some folks even shared the idea that they would like to donate their plasma IF they are Positive for the Antibodies since The Blood Bank has a program for that. It’s a very interesting time right now! So many people want to do something to help with this Pandemic. Knowing they could help others heal by donating their COVID-19 Antibodies gives them a path to offer some Help!:
