Todd McDonald, Owner
The transition from running colleges to owning my own BrightStar Care business with my wife has been amazing! Spending 20 years in schools who primarily offered medical degrees and certifications taught me how much I love the caregivers that serve our population. And having a grandmother that was a caregiver into her 80’s really set my heart on caring for others too. Daily I am amazed at those in the homes making a real difference in the lives of our clients. I get the opportunity to be actively involved with our dedicated office team and refining our business to make it better every day. My experience with accreditation and state licensure requirements within higher education has really paved the path for the work I do now and the high standards we choose to be held to by being Joint Commission Accredited and state licensed. When I’m not working I love spending time with my family and reading a good book.
Katie McDonnald, Owner
The passion I have for helping others coupled with my career experience and drive has led to a perfect fit for our BrightStar Care business! I remember as a little girl singing and dancing in nursing homes to bring joy into others’ lives. Now I get to see that joy daily in our business. I learn everyday by being involved in the community with our referral sources, clients, and their families and doing service and outreach. My favorite place to visit is the beach and I’m always reminded of our greatest accomplishment when I’m with our 4 amazing children!
Ana Rivera, Branch Manager
My name is Ana Rivera and I am the Branch Manager for BrightStar Care of Phoenix/Tempe.
I work with our team of nurses, schedulers and caregivers to ensure all aspects of a client’s care exceeds expectations.
I also work closely with our clinical compliance team to ensure we meet the high standards of our accreditor, the Joint Commission.
To ensure this happens I frequently go out into the field to meet with clients in their home and communicate with cur in-home care team daily.
I have been a Certified Nursing Assistant for 14 years and know first-hand what quality client care looks like.
I am passionate about ensuring our clients receive top-notch care and that our team receives the training and support they need to support our clients.
Nicole Elliot, Director of Community Relations
Having 10 years of experience in the medical field, I joined the BrightStar Care family because I wanted to make a positive impact on people’s lives. As a patient advocate, my role is to help referral sources understand the benefit of quality patient care in the home. My commitment is going above and beyond and being a resource to help people get the help they need. I’m from Alaska, and love outdoor activities and spending time with family and my three dogs.
Sherri Eschberger, Director of Nursing
I am Sherri Eschberger, RN, BSN, DCC and many other hats on our team. I have had the pleasure of serving the BrightStar Care Tempe/Phoenix franchise for over three years. I play a very active role in serving our clients from their start of care to their end of care and all parts in between. As their RN I get to meet with the client, the family and any other person/pet deemed important to establish a Plan of Care to help enhance the clients’ life. As part of the team, we gather to develop an individual plan of care, specific to the clients’ needs, and match them with a compatible caregiver. A large part of my position is to maintain compliance in order to make our business run smoothly and efficiently. I provide oversight to all the staff, clients, and family members to help navigate them through the daily life and strife of caring for others. BrightStar Care provides those wonderful opportunities to me and the rest of our BrightStar team.
I have worked in Home Care for over 6 years. My primary focus has always been Intake/Staffing Coordinator and Authorizations. I help facilitate the communication between the staff and our clients. It is important that our staff has all of the information on the client and that the client knows about the person coming to their home. I love being a part of a team that is always looking to go above and beyond for our field staff as well as our patients.
Maria Denise Rivera, HR/Recruiting
I help our Clients by proactively pursuing skilled professionals for our clients. During orientation I make sure all of our field staff is specially trained. I make sure all of our Staff is experienced and is screened prior to working with BrightStar.
I complete the Employee onboarding process from start to finish. Although, on-boarding employees is one of the tasks I do here at BrightStar, my passion is building rapport with all employees and building trust with each and every one of our employees. I have 15 years’ experience as a caregiver/CNA, 4 years’ CPR instructor, 4 years’ DCW instructor, and 4 years’ DD intro to Autism (prevention and support).
Leeane Schraeder, Aministrative Assistant
As the administrative assistant I keep the office running smoothly by answering calls, filing, keeping referral logs, as well as other office work. Although, the office work is what I do, for the past 3 years I really enjoy interacting with the staff and the clients and making sure I give the best support possible. Outside of work I enjoy beach vacations, “Sunday Dinners” with family, staying active which includes long walks, mountain climbing, and spending time with the grandchildren.
Ruben Ramirez, Recruiter
As a recruiter, I take pride in ensuring that placements are a strong match for all parties. One of my favorite things is connecting with people who have a passion for their career which is why BrightStar is the perfect opportunity for me. I take interest in finding people careers rather than simply jobs. My goal as a BrightStar recruiter is to build a strong, long-term, equally valuable relationship with all candidates and clients. Before BrightStar I completed the MBA Program at DeVry which has giving me the knowledge to succeed in the career of recruiting. Currently, I am responsible for employing top talent in the Phoenix and Tempe areas of Arizona.
Andrea Frank, Payroll Specialist
As the payroll specialist I take pride in making sure that all of our wonderful home care professionals get paid accurately and on time. I also love connecting with the employees within our BrightStar Care team. When I am not working, I am usually with my three amazing teenage boys that keep me quite busy. In my free time I enjoy reading and watching movies with my husband.
