Special Honors for In-Home Care Nurses

BrightStar RN Clinical Pathways Coordinator with Caregiver

Nurses are typically associated with women in white uniforms, tending to patients in hospitals or doctor’s offices. Yet every day, a growing number of dedicated nurses care for aging adults and people with complex medical needs inside their homes, administering daily medications, providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness, and managing personalized plans of care. “Nurses overall have continuously topped the charts as the most trusted professionals in the workforce,” said our resident RN and Chief Clinical Quality Officer Sharon Roth Maguire, noting that a 2014 Gallup poll found that Americans ranked nurses as the highest under honesty and ethical standards amongst 11 other professions. “Our home care nurses make an impact on the lives of people every day by delivering a Higher Standard of Care in their homes.” Did you know that BrightStar Care franchises employ more than 5,000 nurses, including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Licensed Vocational Nurses? Just like in past years, we've got a lot to celebrate for National Nurses Week this year! To pay tribute to the specialized and tireless work of the thousands of nurses throughout our network, we've launched a widespread campaign to educate the public about the vital role that home care nurses play in today’s health care system. To do this, we've kicked off our first-ever “Home Care Nurse of the Year award program to gather stories from the front lines about how our nurses act as leaders in their local BrightStar Care agencies, follow the brand’s values and consistently demonstrate and exemplify the BrightStar Care “Higher Standard of Care.”

A Memorable Nurses Week

“The nominations are pouring in from our franchisees all over the country with compelling stories of BrightStar Care nurses who go above and beyond to deliver the highest quality of care to their clients in the home,” said BrightStar Care CEO and co-founder Shelly Sun. “Through the public education efforts and awards, our goal is to ensure that home care nurses get their turn in the spotlight during National Nurse’s Week.” The nominations we've received are nothing short of amazing, punctuating the passion, leadership and expertise that our nurses are bringing to their jobs every day. Throughout Nurses Week, we'll be sharing these nominations along with special features to highlight a few select BrightStar Care nurses who are making a difference in the work they're doing. We'll also be announcing the regional winners of the 2015 Nurse of the Year awards through celebratory reveal events, so be sure to stay tuned for some of the poignant and exciting stories we'll have to share to honor these very special people for all that they do. Be sure to stay tuned to our Facebook page for more coverage for this very special Nurses Week series!
