Our Story
Tammi and Felix Ankrah opened BrightStar Care of Appleton with a simple mission: to help people live safely, comfortably, and independently at home.
For Tammi, the inspiration came from years of working as a nurse. Throughout her career, one message remained constant. No matter their age, diagnosis, or circumstances, patients would often say, "I just want to go home." Those words left a lasting impression. She saw firsthand how important home is to a person's dignity, independence, and quality of life.
At the same time, Tammi witnessed the challenges families face when trying to care for aging parents, spouses, and loved ones. Many wanted to help but didn't know where to turn. Others struggled to balance caregiving with work, family responsibilities, and the demands of everyday life.
Felix shared Tammi's passion for serving others and making a positive impact in the community. Together, they began exploring ways they could combine Tammi's healthcare experience with their shared desire to help families in a meaningful way.
The Fox Cities has always felt like home to them. Tammi grew up nearby, and both Tammi and Felix attended Lawrence University. After college, they chose to build their lives in the Fox Cities and raise their daughters here. The community that helped shape their family is now the community they are proud to serve.
When they discovered BrightStar Care, they knew they had found an organization whose values matched their own. BrightStar's commitment to compassionate caregiving, Nurse-Led care, and a higher standard of care aligned perfectly with their vision of helping people remain safe and independent at home.
In 2024, Tammi and Felix opened BrightStar Care of Appleton to serve families throughout the Fox Cities and surrounding communities. As local owners, they are committed to building a team of caregivers and nurses who treat every client with the same kindness, respect, and compassion they would want for their own family members.
Today, their mission remains simple: to help people live their best lives in the place they most want to be—home.
