BrightStar Care announced the appointment of Alan Dappen, MD, to the Board of Advisors

The DocTalker physician will help extend new home-based healthcare services in Fairfax.

Fairfax, Virginia August 13, 2020 Today BrightStar Care announced the appointment of Alan Dappen, MD as Medical Director and member of the Advisory Board.  Dr. Dappen will advise the company and partner to offer new home-based medical services to Northern Virginia residents.  The new services include instant and lab-based Covid-19 antibody and antigen tests along with remote patient monitoring, video telehealth and house call primary care visits.

“I am proud to bring my medical expertise and person-centered approach to BrightStar,” said Alan Dappen, MD.  “They are recognized leaders in delivering home-based care to residents in Northern Virginia and I look forward to advising and partnering with them as they introduce new capabilities that promote better health outcomes."

Fewer Hospitalizations and Better Health Outcomes

During the Covid-19 pandemic many people are reluctant to visit a physician and many others are quarantined or home-bound and need medical services delivered to them at their residence.  House calls, telehealth visits and remote patient monitoring are all proven ways to reduce emergency room visits and hospital admissions, but are often difficult to obtain.

“I have only the highest praise for the nursing and homecare services BrightStar provides” said Leesburg nurse Karen Thompson. “Now, with Dr. Dappen joining the team, my patients can also get tested for the Covid-19 virus and get physician assessments, treatments and prescriptions- all provided in their home by a comprehensive team of medical professionals that monitors their health status."
