I am a transplant patient and badly needed physical therapy in order to move around the house using a walker to help at least a bit independent. Patrick worked with me and with pace that suited me with patience. The first 5 exercises he taught and had me practiced really improved my leg strength and my family could easily see the improvement in my walking. By end of third week I was able to walk within the house without a walker for short distances. His minute observations also helped correct small mistakes that I was making during practice. I would recommend Patrick and Bright Star to anyone looking for physical therapy. Also he is not afraid of dogs which was a plus for me 🙂

I just realized my review forJulie didn’t go through on my pan old phone. I was very fortunate to work with Patrick for PT and Julie for OT in late 2023 to very early 2024. My review for Patrick is still there but the one for Julie isn’t. So, I thought I’d do a new one. When I first met Julie I was just out of hospital, was having multiple seizures daily, and my left hand was so curled into a tight fist that it was impossible to open. When I did finally do have exercises to raise the fingernails slightly I had to keep my hand down and facing away from me and rely on a table top mirror to be able to cut my nails on that left hand. I finally managed to get a finger, then a pan, then a essential oil roller bottle, and a small TV remote wedged into that hand to keep it from closing into a full fist during seizures. Julie gave me Thera Putty for my hand, and that has helped with my ability to move my fingers sooo much! I can now open doors, hold light utensils and cups and even pet my dog and type with that left hand, things I couldn’t do for years! This is all such exciting progress for me! 🎉🎉 Julie also helped me get to the front of the house and even outside and up the block a bit in the sunshine with my walker a few times. One time we were even outside for 15 whole minutes without my being so exhausting I had to catch in bed afterwards! It was awesome! ☀️☀️ She also got me started with cycling with a mini bicycle thingy she put at the foot of my wheelchair and showed me how to raise my cane above my head and in front of me and side to side from my wheelchair to help regain strength. When we met I just barely started being able to reach to put socks on by myself, but I couldn’t brush my hair or change my shirt because of that curled in left hand and really tight, painful left shoulder. With the upper body exercises to regain strength I started being able to brush my hair AND change my shirt without assistance nearly every time! That’s HUGE for me, and I’m just so very, very grateful for the major progress I made with Julie as my OT and Patrick as my PT! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I just wanted to brush my hair, change my shirt and get to the front of the house to get myself some leftovers without having to rely on everyone else in my family for everything. I hit these goals so much earlier than expected so we had to keep expanding on our goals, which I never expected. They both told me I had hit all of the goals they had for me when they left, and that was very encouraging! 😃😃. It’s now late October 2025, and I’ve continued to progress with exercises they gave me. I now walk mainly with my cane, use my walker mainly for seizure days and rarely have to use the wheelchair that I once could not cross the room without. I could barely walk across half a room without dragging my left leg and being completely out of breath at the start. We also had to do most exercises in a dimly lot room, because seizures and migraines had light sensitivity way, way up! Most of the time now I am turning on lamps WITH my left hand and even getting out onto our back patio to enjoy the clouds, too! ⛅️⛅️ Getting outside again was a long term goal of mine, but with Patrick’s and Julie’s help it became a reality in that first month of working for them! I am so very, very grateful for my time with them and would definitely request both of them again if I needed more rehab after another hospital stay! They really did impact my life for the better, and I still encourage myself on harder days with things they told me. The memories of my time with Julie and Patrick continue to remind me it’s important to rest after seizures, to focus on maintaining what I’ve gained, having my route planned out in my mind before I get up to help with stability and energy and the importance of taking time to move, to play, and to get outside in the sunshine! 😎😎 I would definitely recommend Bright Star and Julie and Patrick! Thank you all for making such a difference for me! 👍🏻👍🏻

Susan, Jackie, and Joel have been extremely helpful in my healthcare journey. Joel has been inspirational in encouraging me to be active and maintain my mobility. I enjoy my visits with Susan and especially the time she spends talking with me. What can I say about Jackie??? She's the best! And I've seen her in action training others...kind and patient

Our Story

About BrightStar Care of Frisco/Carrollton — Joint Commission Accredited, RN-Supervised Home Care & Medical Staffing

BrightStar Care of Frisco/Carrollton is a locally owned, Joint Commission Accredited, RN-supervised home care and medical staffing agency serving Frisco, Carrollton, Addison, The Colony, Lewisville, and the broader Denton County area. We are owner-operated by Patrick Acker and built around a single principle: families deserve a real RN building the plan of care, real W-2 caregivers delivering it, and a real local team answering the phone.

Call or text 214-396-1505 — we answer live, never put you in a phone tree, and most families walk away from the first call with a clear plan of care.

What Makes BrightStar Care of Frisco/Carrollton Different

Joint Commission Accreditation is held by fewer than 10% of home care agencies. It means an outside body — the same one that accredits hospitals and surgery centers — audits our clinical competency, infection control, medication safety, caregiver training, and continuous quality improvement. Read more about our award-winning care and how to choose a home care agency in Frisco/Carrollton.

Every plan of care is built and supervised by a Registered Nurse — not standard in non-medical home care. Caregivers are W-2 employees with weekly pay, full credentialing, and liability coverage. Learn more about our Frisco/Carrollton care team.

Our Home Care Services in Frisco/Carrollton

Most families combine more than one service type. The RN assessment identifies the right blend, and one plan of care coordinates everything.

Personal & Companion Care: Companion care, personal care and bathing assistance, respite care for family caregivers, 24-hour and live-in coverage, hourly vs. live-in care comparison, meal preparation and nutrition support, light housekeeping, and transportation and errand services for seniors.

Skilled Nursing at Home: Skilled nursing, wound care and wound-vac management, IV therapy, medication management, in-home lab draws, feeding tube management, ostomy care, PT/OT/speech therapy, pediatric private duty nursing, and why skilled nursing at home matters.

Condition-Specific Care: Alzheimer’s and dementia care, Parkinson’s disease care, stroke recovery, ALS care, COPD care, congestive heart failure care, diabetic wound care, cancer care at home, post-joint replacement recovery, hospital-to-home transitional care, home care after surgery, end-of-life care and hospice support, pediatric home care, and veterans home care.

Veterans & Military Home Health Benefits: TRICARE home health care (Prime and Select), TriWest VA community care, CHAMPVA home health care for eligible veterans’ families, and VA Spina Bifida Health Care Benefits Program. We also support families applying for VA Aid & Attendance benefits to help cover home care costs.

Medical Staffing: Joint Commission-credentialed RN, LVN, CNA, and HHA staffing for DFW hospitals, surgery centers, clinics, LTC facilities, schools, and events — per-diem, contract, travel, and event coverage. See our medical staffing guide.
