Frequently Asked Questions

BrightStar Care of Greater Hackensack can start care the same day if needed. We can also plan care services ahead for a longer timeline. Under New Jersey regulations, all care must start with a registered nurse (RN) assessment, and we work to get that scheduled within 24 hours of your request.

From there, we finalize your plan of care and the right level of coverage. For nursing services specifically, we'll also need a doctor's order with the medical details—medications, dosages, and so on—before any skilled care can begin.

Yes, we work with many clients who have long-term care (LTC) insurance—and with the insurance companies themselves. If a policy doesn't cover the full cost of home care services, the difference becomes a copay. We handle all the documentation, giving you your copies and getting the insurer what they need, so that reimbursement moves along in a timely way.
Yes, we’re proud to work with the VA for veteran home care, most notably through the VA Community Care Network, which covers eligible veterans across our Bergen County service area. We help veterans and their families navigate VA eligibility and paperwork so home care can start without added stress.
Yes, BrightStar Care of Greater Hackensack can have a nurse come to your home after hospitalization or surgery. There are two ways we can arrange this care, depending on your needs. To better understand what level of assistance is needed, we can set up a free in-home care assessment. Or if you already have a doctor's order for specific medical follow-up, we can put a service agreement in place and begin in-home nursing care right away.
Yes, BrightStar Care of Greater Hackensack offers 24/7 care—day, overnight, or a combination—throughout our service area in Bergen County. That can mean a live-in caregiver who sleeps overnight but is present the full 24 hours or structured 8 or 12-hour shifts that combine to cover the full day and night.
Yes, wound care at home is a core part of what our in-home nurses do. A large part of our approach is care coordination, making sure that once you have medical instructions, you actually have what you need to follow them. This includes identifying the right medications, supplies, and equipment providers. If you already have a provider relationship in place in Bergen County, we're glad to work directly with them.
