Holiday Gifts and the Scottsdale Senior: Your Role as the Caregiver

Caregiving During the Holidays: Helping your Scottsdale Senior Understand

When it comes to gifts and your Scottsdale senior suffering from dementia, know that things are going to be a little bit different and a little bit slower this year. Prepare to help your loved one when it comes time to opening their presents, and be ready to give an explanation as to what the gift is if need be.Image result for family gathered around fireplace

Be ready to offer ideas to give if other Scottsdale loved ones ask. While you are thinking about gifts for your loved ones, remember that the most precious gift you can give is time. Take time to spend one on one time with your loved one with dementia, taking a walk around the block, sitting and drinking tea together, or going through photo albums and looking at who you know and reminding your loved one of those they can’t remember. While this may seem like a struggle and a lot of work at times, your patience and love is invaluable, and makes a bigger impact than you think.
