Our Story

At BrightStar Care of Greater Scottsdale, we believe that exceptional care starts with something simple: treating people like family. For Steve and Dana, caring for others isn’t simply a business philosophy—it’s something they’ve spent decades putting into practice. After more than 50 years in Iowa, Steve and Dana built a life centered around family, community, and healthcare. Together, they grew a successful physical therapy practice from a single clinic into 14 locations, creating a team and a culture rooted in compassion, trust, and a genuine commitment to helping people live better lives. Eventually, their journey brought them West, where they saw an opportunity to continue doing what they love: making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Steve, a licensed physical therapist, has dedicated his career to helping people live healthier, more independent lives. His philosophy has always been straightforward—treat every patient and every team member like family. Whether it means taking an extra moment to listen, finding a solution when things get difficult, or simply being there when someone needs support, Steve believes in going above and beyond. Dana, our Chief Financial Officer and co-owner, brings more than 30 years of experience in accounting and financial leadership. With a background in public accounting, auditing, and healthcare finance, she brings the same care and attention to detail behind the scenes that Steve brings to patient care. Her leadership helps ensure that our organization operates with integrity, precision, and a clear vision for the future. Together, Steve and Dana have built more than a healthcare organization. They’ve created a culture where relationships matter, people are valued, and doing the right thing is always at the heart of the work. Their belief is that quality care is about more than services—it’s about trust. It’s about knowing the person behind the care plan, listening to what matters most to them, and treating every client and family with the same compassion and respect you would want for your own loved ones. And family is at the center of Steve and Dana’s lives, too. Outside of work, they enjoy spending time with their four sons, their families, and their grandchildren. They love to travel, stay active, and explore all that the West has to offer. For Steve and Dana, this next chapter is about continuing a lifelong commitment to people—and bringing the same heart, dedication, and high standards that have guided them for decades to the families they have the privilege of serving today. Because to them, care has always been personal.
