May is Women's Health Month, and at BrightStar Care of Hunterdon, we’re taking this time to reflect on something that matters to all of us. Helping the women in our lives take care of themselves, not just everyone else. From mothers and daughters to caregivers and friends, women are often the go-to support for others. But that makes it even more important that they have the space and support to prioritize their own well-being.

This national observance encourages women to take simple, preventive steps toward better health: routine screenings, regular check-ups, mental health check-ins, and small lifestyle changes that can make a real difference. According to the CDC, many of the top health risks for women, like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers, are often preventable or manageable with early detection and consistent care.

But women’s health goes beyond the physical. Stress, anxiety, and depression impact women at significantly higher rates than men. And when mental health takes a hit, physical health often follows. That’s why addressing women’s health means looking at the full picture: mind, body, and quality of life.

Prioritizing health doesn’t have to be overwhelming. It could mean finally scheduling that annual exam, making time for a morning walk, starting a conversation with your doctor about menopause, or setting aside time to recharge mentally. Small steps, taken consistently, lead to stronger, healthier lives.

What we see in the homes we serve

At BrightStar Care of Hunterdon, we support women at every age and stage. We help aging mothers maintain independence in their own homes. We assist women recovering from surgery or managing long-term conditions. We care for those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. And we see every day how support, education, and reliable care make a difference not just for our clients, but for their families too.

We believe women deserve care that’s clinical in quality, but personal in approach. Our services are overseen  by Registered Nurses who create custom care plans based on each client’s individual needs. From medication reminders to skilled nursing, companion care to mobility assistance, our caregivers bring professionalism and heart into every home.
