At BrightStar Care of Milford Framingham, our commitment to care extends far beyond routine clinical visits. Each day, our nurses take part in something extraordinary through our partnership with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). This collaboration gives our team the opportunity to support donors and patients who are fighting some of the toughest medical battles of their lives.

It is more than a service. It is a direct connection to hope. And every member of our team plays a role in that.

Why the NMDP Partnership Matters

NMDP facilitates blood stem cell transplants for patients facing life-threatening illnesses such as leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood disorders. These patients depend on donors who are willing to step forward, and donors depend on nurses who can safely guide them through each step of the process.

That is where our team comes in.

When our nurses complete assessments, administer filgrastim, or travel long distances to meet donors, they are helping give someone a second chance at life. These moments are often time sensitive and require focus, compassion, and incredible dedication. What may feel like one visit or one shift to us becomes a life-changing experience for the families who are waiting and hoping.

A Story Close to Home

Recently, our team viewed a video that captured several real stories of patients whose lives were saved through this process. One of those stories is especially meaningful to us. It features a young girl named Aspen, who is not just another child bravely fighting illness. She is the best friend of one of our own caregiver’s children.

Aspen’s journey reflects the true purpose behind every NMDP visit our nurses complete. Her story reminds us that the hours spent preparing medications or driving across the state or sitting beside a donor carry more impact than we may ever fully see. Kids like Aspen get the chance to grow, laugh, learn, and simply be children because someone chose to donate and because nurses like ours showed up with skill and compassion.

The Heart Behind the Work

Our nurses rise to the challenge every time. They travel when needed, stay flexible through schedule changes, answer questions, and provide reassurance to donors who may be nervous or overwhelmed. They bring professionalism, empathy, and a calm presence that donors rely on.

This level of dedication is something we never take for granted. What you do truly matters.

Your work helps keep families together.
Your work gives people the chance to build more memories.
Your work brings hope when it is needed most.

Thank You to Our Nursing Team

To every nurse who has supported an NMDP visit, thank you.
To those who have long hours on the road, thank you.
To those who have comforted donors, explained procedures, and handled complex tasks, thank you.

You make a difference in ways that words can hardly capture.

If you have not participated in an NMDP filgrastim visit before and would like to learn more, reach out to our nursing leadership team. We are here to help you take part in this meaningful work if you feel called to do so.
