Keeping Patients Safe at Home In Montgomery County

We are focused on Patient Safety. BrightStar Care hopes to create awareness about patient safety and recognize the work already provided to Montgomery County that keeps families safe at home.

Patient safety works toward "the goal of achieving a trustworthy system of health care delivery." It can minimize the incidence and impact of an illness and maximizes recovery from adverse events.

BrightStar Care practices Patient Safety in health care settings and a patient's home. The process includes establishing a safety compliance plan and making sure all employees know the plan and understand our safety policies. We focus on patient safety and improving the quality of care to help prevent adverse outcomes like infections.

Our commitment to quality follows the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals. From infection control training to home safety assessments, our clinical quality processes help keep you safe in your home and reduce the likelihood of hospitalization or readmissions.

Our unique approach includes:
  • National patient safety goals for falls and infection control
  • Patient home inspection
  • Emergency preparedness plan and creation of an emergency backup kit
  • Care staff competencies verified by a Registered Nurse (RN) before being assigned
  • RN oversight on every case
  • Stringent screening and employment practices
We focus on:
  • Using medicines safely
  • Preventing infection
  • Preventing patients from falling
  • Identifying patient safety risks
We also practice patient-centered care, and our Director of Nursing plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety by monitoring patients. Regarding the patients' preferences and needs, BrightStar Care nurses help coordinate clinical care and provide information on clinical status, progress, and prognosis.

Our safety standards and practices have received the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission. As the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care, the Joint Commission has rigorous standards that go above state requirements. This accreditation is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting superior performance standards and puts the Montgomery County BrightStar Care team within the elite group of less than 10% of home health care agencies that have received this accreditation.
