In October 2025, Zalfa and her husband George opened BrightStar Care of Rancho Cucamonga with a deeply personal passion for making a real difference for families facing healthcare challenges. After building a successful 20-year career in corporate finance and accounting, Zalfa discovered her true calling when both of her parents were diagnosed with cancer.
"My mom battled stage four colon cancer first. With two little kids at home, one of us had to stop working to care for her," Zalfa shares. "Thankfully, she survived and is healthy today. Later, when my dad was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, we found ourselves constantly calling 911 and teaching ourselves how to manage his care at home. Despite all our efforts and love, we lost him to his battle with cancer".
Through those experiences – both the joy of her mother's recovery and the heartbreak of losing her father – Zalfa learned firsthand how overwhelming it can be for families trying to balance work, caregiving, and emotional strain while navigating complex healthcare needs.
