Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia can become overwhelming.

A spouse or adult child may begin by helping with meals, appointments, or errands. Over time, that can grow into assistance with bathing, dressing, mobility, supervision, and making sure a loved one is safe throughout the day.

Many families adjust as needs change, often without realizing how much responsibility they have taken on.
As the Santa Barbara Walk to End Alzheimer’s approaches on November 14, 2026, we are reminded that support for families affected by dementia should continue long after walk day.

Our BrightStar Care team recently participated in the Ventura Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and we look forward to joining the Santa Barbara Walk to End Alzheimer’s on November 14th, 2026.  Please feel free to stop by our booth to say hello or join our BrightStar Care team using the link above.

When caring for a loved one becomes too much to manage alone

Family caregivers often want to do everything themselves.  But there may come a point when providing care starts affecting work, sleep, appointments, relationships, or simply the ability to enjoy time together.  That is where additional support can make a meaningful difference.

BrightStar Care of Santa Barbara County provides Alzheimer’s and dementia care designed around each person’s needs, routines, and preferences.

Depending on the care plan, our caregivers can help with:

  • Bathing, dressing, and personal care

  • Meal preparation

  • Mobility and safety

  • Companionship

  • Household routines

  • Transportation and errands when appropriate

  • Respite for family caregivers

Our care is also supported by Registered Nurse oversight, giving families an additional level of guidance as needs change.

Most importantly, you do not have to wait until there is a crisis to ask for help.
Sometimes a few hours of dependable support each week can relieve pressure, create consistency, and give family caregivers more time to simply be a spouse, son, daughter, or loved one again.

Support that continues beyond the walk

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s brings our community together around an important cause.
For families living with dementia, however, the need for support continues every day.
If caring for someone you love is becoming harder to manage, we are here to listen, answer questions, and help you understand what support may make sense for your family.
