Here are the reasons we can give Brightstar Care a 5-Star rating: Over the past 2 years we have had a fairly consistent team of 5 caregivers that have helped us care for our 95 year old mother who has dementia and is totally dependent for all care. We have two shifts that cover 18 hours/day. We have Anabel and Carmen, the 2 most experienced caregivers on night shift, each with over 20 years of caregiving experience. While most people have the misconception that all the night shift does is watch their client sleep. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Anabel and Carmen are busy monitoring mom throughout the night to ensure she gets a good nights sleep. They frequently check and change her briefs, reposition her to prevent skin breakdown or bed sores, ensure her bedding is comfortable, monitor her temperature and the room temp and humidity, elevate the head of the bed as needed to improve breathing and decrease coughing, reassure her when she’s asking “where is my family and when are they coming to get me.” Both caregivers write notes for us of how the night went, how mom slept, and any concerns they notice such as signs of a UTI or any lingering redness on pressure areas. Both Anabel and Carmen are a wealth of information for us and share realistic knowledge of what to expect as our mother progresses through the stages of dementia. They are both 100% devoted to providing exceptional care for our mother all night, every night, no exceptions. They are also supportive of us as we care for our mother and because of their great care we are able to rest well at night. Our day shift caregivers assist us with feeding our mom, dressing, transfers in/out of her wheelchair to her recliner or hospital bed. They all share with helping us around the house, doing Mom’s laundry, keeping the dishes done, floors cleaned, mopped and vacuumed as needed; keeping the kitchen pantry stocked, and ensuring moms bedroom is straightened up and stocked with items the night shift will need. Our day shift team is comprised of Saira who is here 4 days/week. Ashley is here 2 days/week and Ellie is her 1 day/week. All of these ladies are very caring and have established a great rapport with our mother. We are confident with their care and handling of our mother which allows us to leave them alone with mom while we run our errands in town. Saira is very attentive and interactive with our mother. Anytime mom is awake Saira is there to talk with her, they look at magazines together, discuss the pictures and Saira frequently gets short but meaningful conversations going with mom. Saira also plays games and gets mom to interact with her on the tablet or rolling a ball on the kitchen table. During meals Ashley helps mom manage her food when needed and knows just how much help to give without interfering with mom feeding herself. She helps mom with her drinks so she doesn’t get too much at once. We know mom likes Ashley too because mom tries to feed Ashley her food. Mom is very comfortable with Ellie’s care even though she’s only here 1 day a week. We appreciate Ellie’s many skills, especially helping mom swab her mouth and teeth which is always a challenge for us; as well as new and efficient ways of dressing mom. When we first started caregiver services with Brightstar Care we had a few different caregivers that just weren’t the perfect fit for mom. My contact at Brightstar Care to address any concerns is Melisa Tadillo, Client Care Supervisor. Melisa is always friendly and professional during our conversations, she is very responsive, she promptly returns phone calls and emails. I feel like Melisa really listens to my concerns and takes action to resolve any issues I’ve had with caregivers that weren’t the right fit for our situation. We are so fortunate that BrightStar sent Dany to help my husband, John. Dany has been with us for over 3 years. He continuously displays patience and compassion to provide help for John. John's form of dementia creates a challenge for him to connect with a caregiver. Through Dany's kindness and perseverance, John is much more positive and cooperative when Dany is interacting with him. We had the unexpected pleasure of having Audali assist with my husband today. It was such a happy experience to have a well trained, kind and very passionate lady come to our home. Especially as a substitute. Audali quickly adapted to my husband's routine. She made him comfortable to have a stranger in our house. The true surprise was when I went into our bedroom and found our bed made like we were in a luxury hotel! What a treat for me and my husband. I want to give my care givers a big appreciation these girls are wonderful. They helped me so much. Mary, Diana, Cetara . They work very hard and how about so much Mary taking me to my doctors appointment , cleaning and cooking. Diana for helping me also with the house cleaning cookings d washing. Cetara for cleaning and cooking and the massaging these girls need a big kudos and may be a big raise. Wonderful girls I appreciate them.

The schedulers manage a tremendous amount of information that is constantly evolving. They do a great job. Hugo has been solid, kind and supportive. Cristal, Dana, Letti, Andrea, Teresa and Ariana have been excellent caregivers. Each one is completely different in their strengths and abilities but all are so kind, willing to help and properly trained. BrightStar has happily accommodated my every request and are responsive to any questions I may have. The billing is weekly, clear and correct. Such a tremendous help! Thank you!

Home aides were extremely helpful with the variety of tasks I needed help with. And always very prompt!

I can't imagine how I would manage without help from Bright Star caregivers! They have helped both my husband and me. Lisa B. is a better cook than I ever was! She has been here the longest. She knows just what we need and does it. I am unable to navigate the shower now. The caregivers on the morning shift make it possible for me to have a good shower. With light housekeeping help, my home is running smoothly. I highly recommend Bright Star!

I want to commend Breanna C as one of my sister’s 1:1. She is very caring, sweet, attentive and brings calmness with my sister which she needs. My sister is always so happy when Breanna is with her and even when she has a rough moment or day, I know my sister is in good hands with Breanna C.

Having recently been diagnosed with a new Medical condition which entails home based I.V. Infusions for two days a month for four months, I was pretty nervous. Bright Star called me and set up my Infusion schedule and asked if I had any requests or needs. It is very hard to get veins on me, I am limited to veins on the back of my hands. It can be very painful for me if someone is not really experienced with hands. They took my concerns seriously and a Wonderful, Kind R.N. arrived, and I could not believe it, her technique was painless. That is a rare event for me. I did have a spike in blood pressure during my first Infusion and Xochitl The R.N. caring for me knew what to do and called my Neurologist for an ok and paused my Infusion until my blood pressure was normal again. Xochitl restarted the infusion and I had no problems after that time. I was impressed with how she took it all in stride, I of course was nervous and Xochitl was Not, she was very calm and very professional. For my second Infusion I was going to be in Los Angeles and not in Santa Maria. After my initial treatment, I decided I wanted to have Xochitl to do all my Infusions and so we are a team at the moment, until my last Infusion in March. Xochitl is not just reassuring by her obvious experience and Knowledge, she is genuinely caring and kind. I feel so lucky to have Xochitl as my nurse for my Infusions. I feel completely confident in her to be able to handle any situation that comes up, Calmly and professionally. I have found all my interactions with the Bright Star Care staff to be very supportive, kind informative and professional. Personally they have helped me with my anxiety that has risen with my New medical condition. I am so lucky to be in such kind, caring and experienced hands.
