Prioritizing Safety This June: BrightStar Care Observes National Safety Month

June is National Safety Month, and at BrightStar Care we are proud to join the nationwide effort to raise awareness about preventing injuries and promoting well-being. This is especially true for the most vulnerable members of our communities.

As a leading provider of home care and medical staffing, safety is not just something we talk about during June, it's at the heart of everything we do, year-round. National Safety Month offers an important opportunity to highlight key safety issues and share practical tips that can make a difference in the lives of our clients, caregivers, and families.

Sponsored by the National Safety Council (NSC), National Safety Month focuses on reducing leading causes of injury and death at work, at home, and in our communities.

Safety Starts at Home: Our Top Priorities This June

Here’s how BrightStar Care is spotlighting safety this month:

1. Fall Prevention

Falls are a leading cause of injury among older adults. Our nurses and caregivers are trained to assess home environments, remove hazards, and recommend adaptive equipment like grab bars or walkers. We also provide personalized mobility support and balance exercises when appropriate.
Tip for families: Ensure your loved one’s pathways are clear of rugs, cords, and clutter. Good lighting and sturdy footwear go a long way.

2. Medication Management

Proper medication use is essential to health and safety. We help clients stay on track with medication schedules, monitor for side effects, and coordinate with physicians and pharmacists.
Keep an updated list of all medications and dosages in an accessible place, and review it regularly with your care provider.

3. Emergency Preparedness

Whether it’s a medical emergency, extreme weather, or power outage, being prepared can save lives. Put together an emergency kit that includes medications, medical records, flashlights, water, and non-perishable food.

4. Caregiver Safety and Well-being

Our caregivers are our frontline heroes. Their safety and mental health matter. We provide ongoing training, support, and resources to help them manage stress, prevent injury, and stay healthy while providing exceptional care. Don’t neglect self-care. Rest, ask for help when needed, and reach out for emotional support, even strong caregivers need a break.

Our Commitment to Safe, Compassionate Care

Our care teams are guided by The Joint Commission standards, and every care plan is customized with safety in mind. Whether we’re providing skilled nursing, personal care, companionship, or respite care, we do it with an unwavering focus on protecting the health and dignity of every client.

Join Us in Promoting a Culture of Safety

We encourage families, healthcare professionals, and community members to take part in National Safety Month. Small actions (like checking in on a neighbor, reviewing emergency plans, or organizing a medicine cabinet) can have a lasting impact.
