Zoom Event Alternative Approaches to Pain Management

April 1, 2021

United Way Caregiver Coalition presents this Virtual Munch & Learn Program

When: Tuesday, April 13 from 10:00-11:00am.

Please join us for a presentation on "Alternative Approaches to Pain Management”

Opioid addiction and overdoses continue to be a significant health threat, impacting all age groups, including the elderly. Medication misuse is actually quite common in older adults owing to many factors, including the likelihood of chronic pain as the body ages, the number of prescriptions they take, and the length of time they continue to have them prescribed. While occasionally opioids are essential for pain management, in particular during some cancer treatments and end of life care, there are often other better options than medications for providing relief.

Community in Crisis (CIC), a non-profit coalition based in Somerset County, is committed to fighting the opioid crisis with prevention education, including non-opioid pain management alternatives to reduce the overuse, misuse, and abuse of prescription opioid medications within this population. Join CIC’s Executive Director, Andi Williams, and Senior Education Coordinator, Brenda Miller, as they lead a discussion on safe prescribing, safeguarding and safe disposal of opioids, as well as several brief videos from professionals specialized in alternative approaches to pain management.
