Compassion, integrity, inspiration, excellence, generosity and diversity
Brooke Virgin | Branch Manager I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Relations and a Master’s in Business Administration. I grew up in Beloit and the Rock County area and returned to this area after college and living for a short time in the Milwaukee Area. I have always been drawn towards taking care of people through positions with a local nursing home, Girl Scouts, United Way and as a Director for a Senior Living Memory Care. After hearing that my predecesor was retiring, and then meeting the owners, Jeff and Susan, I just knew in my heart that I found the right fit for me. BrightStar has always had such a good reputation in providing support to families that I just knew I wanted to be a part of this organization.
Mary Lou Bell | Registered Nurse Case Manager I have always loved nursing, but it is very important for me to have time to spend with the people that I care for. BrightStar is the perfect fit for me. I get to meet and care for a lot of great people and I have the quality time with them that I was looking for. Working for BrightStar gives me a wide range of nursing opportunities, which I love. I am able to help not only the clients, but also provide peace of mind for their families. I have never been happier in my nursing career! Working for a company like BrightStar has been a truly fulfilling job for me.
Lisa Chitek | Customer Care Manager Before becoming a CNA, I was a stay-at-home mom for six years. Now, I’ve been a CNA for eight years and have worked in a hospital/clinical setting most of my career. I’ve worked in the joint replacement wing, in the operating room, and as a CNA/Unit Clerk for a mental health and addictions program. I’ve been married to my husband, James, for 15 years. We have two children and a dog. I started with BrightStar working for homecare, was then promoted to the CCA position, and now starting my journey in the CCM position. I’m really excited to advance my career with BrightStar, as there is so much room for growth and opportunities!
Shaelynn Linton | Customer Care Manager Before working with BrightStar I was a manager for 10 years. I worked in the food service and finance field. I have been married for three years and we have a blended family of seven kids. Two years ago, my mother became ill and I was her main care taker. I knew after this experience I wanted to help people who were in similar situations and BrightStar was the perfect fit for me! I'm excited to work with caregivers and clients to meet their needs.
Kelsey Mitchell | Customer Care Assistant I spent about 8 years too many burnt out in the restaurant business. It was time to make a change. I have worked many positions through High School and college caring for adults and children who had disabilities. It has been so wonderful to be back in the field of helping people! I love all the connections I have the opportunity to make with BrightStar clients and caregivers.
Tera Alexander | Recruiter I was born and raised in the Rock County area. Twenty-two years ago I became a Certified Nursing Assistant because I am a people-person and could not think of anything else that would give me more job satisfaction than helping others. I love being able to use my experience as a caregiver to mentor our new BrightStar CNAs. While working for BrightStar, I also found a way to put my Health Care Administration degree to good use!
Tisa Engel | Employment Engagement Manager I found a passion for healthcare as a senior in high school and I’ve been hooked ever since. I joined BrightStar due to their values, friendliness, and opportunity for growth. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors with my three dogs. On my off days you can often find me camping, hiking, or swimming.
Susan Rather | Owner I hold a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, and a master’s degree in human relations from Oklahoma University. I have 25 years experience working in medical facilities and laboratories in Alabama, California, Colorado, Germany, and Wisconsin. Before opening the BrightStar business with my husband, Jeff, I was the Laboratory Manager at the Veteran’s Hospital in Madison. While this is a second career for me, helping out families in need and providing quality jobs for our great staff is the most meaningful and rewarding work I’ve ever done.
Jeff Tews | Owner I earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Minnesota, and spent 30+ years in corporate positions at US West, Qwest and US Bank. A re-organization of US Bank started my search for an opportunity to run a small business. When Susan and I heard about BrightStar, we decided it was a perfect opportunity to help families, create jobs, and establish a business in this growing industry.
Lori Tebrinke | Director of Nursing Before coming to Bright Star, I was a night RN at UW Hospital and Clinics on a general internal medicine unit that specialized in Geriatrics and Special Pathogens. I am excited to bring my evidence-based, best practice nursing skills, experiences and training into the private setting. My Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is from UW Madison; additionally I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Iowa State University in Communication Disorders with a minor in Psychology. Working here at Bright Star as an RN Case Manager, I feel I have truly come full circle by being able to provide this level of care to my clients in their own home!
Wendy Sulzer | Director of Home Care I came to BrightStar Care with over 8 years experience in senior services marketing and management. I have always found working with older adults rewarding, but helping them reach their goal of returning to or staying at home is the best part of working at BrightStar. My goal is to create cohesive leadership teams of nurses and care managers who will be able to provide the care solutions our clients need.
Hattie Truss | Business Office Manager While I loved my previous position as a pharmacy technician, I was looking for more human interaction when I came to BrightStar Care- and I definitely found it here. I especially enjoy communicating with staff, clients and their family members to solve issues with billing, payroll and all aspects of our scheduling software.
