Caring for Loved Ones in Bethesda / Silver Spring with Alzheimer’s or Dementia

June 15, 2018

Dementia is a Mental Decline that Interferes With a Person’s Daily Life, and is Not a Normal Part of Aging for Bethesda Seniors.

The symptoms can include problems with memory, communication, and thinking.

The 3 most common types of dementia are:

  • Alzheimer’s disease: the most common type of dementia. Symptoms of Alzheimer’s begin slowly and get worse over time.
  • Vascular Dementia:  caused by a lack of blood flow to the brain. Vascular dementia can happen as you age and can be related to atherosclerotic disease or stroke.
  • Lewy Bodies Dementia: caused by protein deposits in nerve cells. This interrupts chemical messages in the brain and causes memory loss and disorientation.
