Halloween Fun in Bethesda, MD

Are you looking for Halloween spooks and thrills in Montgomery County?



There are haunted attractions, scary screenings, and mystery performances for some spooky fun this Halloween.


Montgomery County is hosting several Halloween events from a masquerade dance to a monster bash, to a haunted house, these are fun activities for residents of all ages to celebrate the Halloween season.  Many of the events are free.  Make sure to check the event website for detailed information. 

Here is a list of some of our favorite upcomming events for families and older adults:

Saturday, October 28: Halloween Monster Bash
Mid-County Community Recreation Center

Recreation activities such as music, games, moon bounce, face painting, costume parade contest, goodies and prizes. Participants K- 6 must be accompanied by a parent. Register online at Active Montgomery, activity number 35782. Free. 

Saturday, October 28: Halloween Masquerade

Kentlands Mansion
320 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878
Kentlands Mansion will present Last Call at Chez Mort, an interactive mystery performance. The story is set in the 1920s when a bizarre death takes place at a night club. Was it an accident or murder? Find the clues and decide for yourself while you enjoy a sweet treat buffet. Recommended for ages 15+. Tickets are $35 for an individual and $60 for two.

Performances: Friday – Saturday, October 26-27 at 8pm; Sunday, October 28 at 2pm

AFI Silver Theater

What would Halloween be without horror movies? The AFI Silver Theatre will be showing Halloween classics from October 26 – 31. Movies include: Frankenstein (1931), Halloween (1978), Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922), Suspiria (1977), Witchfinder General aka The Conqueror Worm (1986), and Zombie (1979). Find your film friends, check out the show times, and reserve your tickets.

Wheaton and Cabin John Halloween Eye Spy Trains

For more kid-friendly Halloween fun, both Wheaton Regional Park and Cabin John Regional Park will be hosting Halloween Eye Spy Train rides. These “not so scary” trains are geared towards kids under 8 years old. Each child will receive an Eye Spy card before boarding the train. As you ride through the woods, look all around to find Halloween friends hiding there, and mark them off the Eye Spy card. The ticket price for all passengers is $6 (children under age 2 are free with a paying adult). Trains will run from 10am to 6pm every Saturday and Sunday through October 28.
