How long have you been working in healthcare/management?
Before becoming an RN, I worked at the Oaks Christian Learning Center for three years as a scheduling coordinator and tutor. I served on their leadership team and assisted our directors in making decisions that were best for our students. I loved my time in education but felt called to pursue a career in Nursing. I became an RN after completing a rigorous accelerated BSN program at Mount Saint Mary's University. Shortly after graduation, I began my nursing career at Providence Saint John's Hospital in Santa Monica. I worked on the Post Critical Care/Telemetry Unit until I had my first child and made the decision to be a stay-at-home mom. Now that my son is a little older, I'm thrilled to be back in the nursing field as a homecare RN.

What experience do you bring to BrightStar Care?
I'm proud of my background not only in acute care but in education (at the Oaks Christian Learning Center) and research (at Pepperdine University). At the hospital, I worked a wide variety of patients including those recovering from stroke, open heart surgery, lung resections, and brain surgeries. I also have personal experience with homecare as I cared for my 96-year-old grandfather at his home for 5+ years.

What aspect of your job are you most passionate about?
I'm passionate about ensuring that each patient feels heard, understood, and cared for. I remember how difficult it was to find quality home care for my grandfather and I am passionate about finding the right caregiver for each patient according to his/her individual needs.

I am making MORE possible for our BrightStar clients by providing an attentive listening ear, a warm friendly smile, and a caring, compassionate heart.

How long have you been working in healthcare/management?
I've been a caregiver for over 4 years now. My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's when I was young so that pushed me to work in memory care. I started off in a Skilled Nursing Facility before I found my way to Brightstar Care and was able to put all my focus into one on one care.

What experience do you bring to BrightStar Care?
I'm a mother to two young girls, who are also close in age so I bring a lot of patience and understanding. Life is always throwing curveballs and instead of dodging I try my best to catch as many as possible. Many of those that I was afraid to go after have turned out to be amazing memories I will always cherish.

What aspect of your job are you most passionate about
I am definitely passionate about getting to know people. I love to ask questions. People like to define themselves a certain way, but when you get them talking about something they love, that's when you really get to know them.

I am Making More Possible for our BrightStar Care clients by…
Having a positive attitude. You never know what people may be going through, and being there for someone is what I strive for. If I am able to put a smile on someone's face or make them laugh, then I've done my best.

How long have you been working in healthcare/management?
Healthcare has been engrained in my life. Growing up, my maternal grandma lived with my family. As she aged, we switched roles to being the ones caring for her which initially piqued my interest in healthcare. I completed nursing school abroad, and am currently on the path to becoming a registered nurse.
