How long have you been in Health Care/Management:
I have worked in the Medical environment for over 20 years. I began my first working experience working in my dad’s medical office, managing the front office, helping patients, and doing blood, lab work, and EKG’s. I also had the opportunity to work as an EKG Technician at the Hospital during College.  I loved the Hospital environment, and working with Professionals, so after graduating from Michigan State University, I enjoyed my career as a Sales Manager promoting hospital products to Maternity Departments nationally.

What experience do you bring to BrightStar Care?

I have also been a Healthy Lifestyle Fitness Instructor teaching both Aqua Fitness, Yoga, and Senior Sneaker classes in our Community for the past 15 years. I have developed many wonderful friendships with seniors in our community and know the importance of healthy living. I have also worked as a private home care giver, and I know firsthand how vitally important it is to have the “Right Fit” in placing a Care Giver. I love that BrightStar offers Guaranteed Compatibility in match making. I remember the stress of finding the right Agency for my parents when they needed care.  I am privileged to offer that same caring help to families, and facilities who are seeking Professional Medical and Non-Medical Compassionate Care.

What aspect of your job are you most passionate about?

I am a “Helper” and an “Educator” I am passionate about making a difference in peoples lives. Chelsea-Director-of-Nursing-BrightStar-Care-Conejo-Valley.pngChelsea Zarraonandia | RN, Director of Nursing

How long have you been working in healthcare/management?
Before becoming an RN, I worked at the Oaks Christian Learning Center for three years as a scheduling coordinator and tutor. I served on their leadership team and assisted our directors in making decisions that were best for our students. I loved my time in education but felt called to pursue a career in Nursing. I became an RN after completing a rigorous accelerated BSN program at Mount Saint Mary's University. Shortly after graduation, I began my nursing career at Providence Saint John's Hospital in Santa Monica. I worked on the Post Critical Care/Telemetry Unit until I had my first child and made the decision to be a stay-at-home mom. Now that my son is a little older, I'm thrilled to be back in the nursing field as a homecare RN.

What experience do you bring to BrightStar Care?
I'm proud of my background not only in acute care but in education (at the Oaks Christian Learning Center) and research (at Pepperdine University). At the hospital, I worked a wide variety of patients including those recovering from stroke, open heart surgery, lung resections, and brain surgeries. I also have personal experience with homecare as I cared for my 96-year-old grandfather at his home for 5+ years.

What aspect of your job are you most passionate about?
I'm passionate about ensuring that each patient feels heard, understood, and cared for. I remember how difficult it was to find quality home care for my grandfather and I am passionate about finding the right caregiver for each patient according to his/her individual needs.

I am making MORE POSSIBLE for our BrightStar clients by... providing an attentive listening ear, a warm friendly smile, and a caring, compassionate heart.

Over the years of working for Fortune 500 companies, I have been able to elevate leadership in a dynamic way! I have a professional background in overseeing business development, finance, real estate, counseling, recruiting, and marketing. Our community experienced a drastic change in healthcare and this is when I saw an opportunity to help and make a difference. BrightStar Care offers opportunity in the community and I wanted to be a part of it! I found passion in being an Admissions Counselor for a local nursing school. Then saw how much more of an impact I could provide in hiring and providing someone a job in the workforce field. Now, I love being able to offer positions to people who want to continue to make a difference in health care. Being in the health care field has taught me to be a patient advocate, attentive listener, and a creative professional.

What aspect of your job are you most passionate about?
Being able to support our community with job opportunities is exciting for me! It is a fascinating process to learn about how home healthcare works while providing the right staff for BrightStar Care. It is rewarding to educate and train our staff and then see them use the knowledge to help our clients. My passion is building rapport with our employees and giving them encouragement to stay with us!

I am making MORE POSSIBLE for our BrightStar Care clients by…being a match maker! This is genuinely important to me. Reviewing our client care cases and conducting many interviews daily to ensure we find the perfect caregivers, CNA's, and LVN's. My role is to profile, interview, and onboard our new hires and cultivate relationships in our community. I love working with our commnity and providing resources. It's never too late to start another dream and become a caregiver or a nurse. Reach for the STARS!

I am most passionate about helping people! I believe we are all in this together and if we all help one another we will make life better for everyone. That is my biggest passion to help and make sure everyone feels heard and understood.

I am making MORE POSSIBLE for our BrightStar Care clients by... taking the time to listen. I believe it takes a village to get through life and my role in the Village is to help the best I can. It is really hard to help if you can’t hear what the person needs.
