Keeping Active: Essential Exercises for Seniors

Hold each stretch for 15-30 seconds without bouncing, aiming for a comfortable, not painful, stretch.

Aquatic Exercise

Water-based activities like swimming or water aerobics provide excellent low-impact workouts that are gentle on joints. Water resistance helps build strength while buoyancy reduces the risk of injury.
 

Daily Activities

Encourage participation in daily activities that require movement, such as gardening, housework, or dancing. These activities not only contribute to physical health but also provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Before starting any new exercise program, seniors should consult with their healthcare provider, especially if managing chronic conditions or recovering from injury. Remember to listen to your body, start slowly, and gradually increase intensity and duration over time.
