For years now, our caregiver Dorothy has been reliable, consistent, helpful and kind. We appreciate her! Brightstar is key to keeping my mom at home now that she can no longer care for herself. The scheduling staff are very responsive to our needs. Our caregiver Muna is kind, patient, helpful, and a joy to be around. My mom is happy when she is here, and I feel confident she is in good hands while I am gone.

I am so incredibly grateful for BrightStar Care and the support they provided during one of the most difficult times in our lives. My 94-year-old grandmother, fiercely independent and determined to remain in her mobile home, was in hospice care and living alone. Thankfully, my job allowed me some flexibility, so I was able to attend her hospice appointments and help with her daily needs—all while maintaining a 40-hour workweek. But as her condition progressed, her medical needs became more complex, and even the hospice nurses began expressing concern about her being alone. One Monday morning, I arrived at her home and found her on the floor. She had slipped off the couch and couldn’t get up on her own. That was the moment I realized she needed more care than I could provide by myself. When I called BrightStar Care, they quickly scheduled a visit for the very next day. A nurse came to the trailer to assess her needs, including managing her medications. I felt an immediate sense of relief knowing that, moving forward, she would have 24-hour care. Her first caregiver, Becky, was compassionate and attentive. I felt reassured knowing someone was there for my grandmother at all times. The next morning, I received a call from the supervising nurse at BrightStar, letting me know that Becky had noticed my grandmother had developed hives from one of her medications. Without hesitation, Becky had contacted the nurse in the middle of the night and coordinated with the hospice team to have the medication changed—all while I was asleep. It was comforting to know that she was in such capable and caring hands. BrightStar caregivers also kept a detailed notebook in the trailer, recording notes at the end of each shift. This thoughtful practice allowed me to stay updated on her condition and care, even when I couldn’t be there in person. When it was time for my grandmother to transition to the Pete Moore Hospice House, the caregiver on her final shift at home, Devon, went above and beyond. She made sure she was comfortable, helped manage her medications, and gently cared for her with such kindness. Though she was no longer responsive at that point, Devon quietly stroked her hair and offered her sips of water with a sponge, while I gathered her things for the move. I cannot thank BrightStar Care enough for the peace of mind they gave me and the dignified, loving care they gave my grandmother during her final days. Knowing she was never alone made all the difference.
