Providing RN oversight on every case from day one
Heather Morrison, BSN
How long have you been a Nurse? I have been a Registered Nurse since 2009. I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland School of Nursing graduating with the distinction of being named to the Presidents List and the National Honors Society – Summa Cum Laude.
What experience do you bring to BrightStar Care®? I come to BrightStar Care with a background in Trauma and Emergency medicine, and have spent the last 10 years working at R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and the Emergency department at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. In these settings, I have served as a Charge Nurse, Team Leader, and Triage Nurse. Serving in these roles has allowed me to have an ability to quickly assess a client’s condition and determine their care needs. I excel at producing Person Centered Plans of Care that effectively stabilize a client’s medical condition and promote overall success and recovery of symptoms.
I am a member of the Infusion Nurses Society. I also volunteer in the largest special needs ministry in the country, and serve as an active member of the PTA at my children’s school. Throughout my career I have served on multiple committees including Quality of Care, Joint Commission Accreditation, Hospital Safety, and Employee Social and Retention Committees.
What aspect of your job are you most passionate about? I am passionate about providing a higher standard of care. I believe firmly in the Golden Rule, treating every client as I would want myself or my family members to be treated. I take great pride in helping our clients to receive a high standard of care in their homes and to provide the care needed so they can maintain their lifestyle and be comfortable doing so. I consider myself to be a people person and thoroughly enjoy developing relationships with each client and their family.
I provide A Higher Standard of Care for our BrightStar Care® clients by… Personalizing our services for each individual client starting with developing a Plan of Care that is focused on lifestyle aspects in addition to medical diagnosis and clinical needs. I feel that working together in a team approach with family involvement is critical to providing the most appropriate level of care and I strive to understand the client’s needs on both a personal and medical level. I am committed to seeing each and every plan of care through while maintaining an open relationship with everyone involved in the care for every client. BrightStar clients are extended family to me, and their success at home with our services is an aspect that I take great pride in ensuring for every client, every day, and every encounter.
