My 85-yr old father needs assistance with his personal care and we were referred by the VA to BrightStar Care. This is the first time we needed assistance in our home so we were unsure of how things worked. The first meeting with BrightsStar was an in-depth meeting with my dad, our family, and a thorough assessment of Dads needs. I was very impressed with their ability to provide a wide range of services and to schedule them at a time that was most convenient for our family. They were very responsive and started providing care immediately. My dad receives care four times a week, and because we have requested care at very specific times, it was necessary to use 2 different caregivers with each of them coming twice a week. At first I thought this may make my dad uncomfortable because he is a very private person; however, my concern was unnecessary. Both Jorge and Chaianne are absolutely fantastic! They are pleasant, professional, and so very kind and respectful towards my Dad! They speak and engage with my Dad as they are providing care, and I often hear them laughing together. (My dad does have some dementia, but he is still his humorous self!). Falling in the shower has always been a fear of my dad’s; however, he feels totally safe and secure with Chaianne and Jorge’s assistance. This has relieved a huge burden from our whole family! Keeping Dad safe is everyone’s priority. Jorge and Chaianne’s visits have made such a great difference in my dad’s physical and mental condition! Dad looks forward to their visits and he’s even started going on walks with them in our neighborhood…something he hasn’t done in many months! Previously Dad had difficulty maintaining his personal hygiene, but with Jorge and Chaianne’s assistance he is once again able to take pride in his appearance. This is a huge lift to my dad’s confidence and well being. I also want to give a shout out to Meghan and the rest of the staff at BrighrStar! They have contacted us on a regular basis asking how things are going and to see if we there is anything we need. Their support and understanding as our family makes this journey is invaluable and so greatly appreciated.
