“Hello. I’m Angela Porter, BrightStar Care® Director of Nursing.

How long have you been a nurse?
I became a nurse in 2009 with my ADN. I went on to get my bachelor’s degree and graduated in 2010 with my BS in nursing.

What expertise and experience do you bring to BrightStar Care?
I bring a strong management and leadership background working with the aging population of Oregon. I started my nursing career working in primary care at the VA, then joined the Home Telehealth team in 2011. As a part of this team, I assisted a large panel of veterans with high risk chronic co-morbidities such at CHF, hypertension, diabetes, and COPD. In 2014, I left the VA and became the Director of Nursing for a Long Term Care Facility. I was a part of the management team for 8 years and improved the lives of each client in my care.

What part of your job are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about the people I serve. It was serving the aging population that sparked my true passion in nursing. I enjoy making a difference in the lives of people around me. Both clients and caregivers.

What are three unique strengths you bring to BrightStar Care?
1. I pride myself in have a strong integrity. I believe strongly in the core values of nursing which close coincide with core values of BrightStar Care. Do what you say. Actions are what we are measured by. 2. I feel strongly about improving systematic processing in an effort to provide top of the line care to the clients in our service. 3. At the core of all nursing in teaching. I enjoy learning better ways to improve the lives of our clients. I enjoy seeing my clients learn and grow as well as the caregivers under my direction.
